A Message from the Director
Venturing on a self-supported paddling expedition teaches lessons that can't be learned anywhere but "out-there". Computer games can't simulate the feel of the paddle as it cuts through glassy water on a bright morning. Text books can't prepare a portager for the effort it takes to overland carry a canoe and all it's contents from the top of a dam to its bottom. And certainly, no television show can impart the great sense of accomplishment that's won after completing the trip you set out to do. The 2019 Perki-Bay Expedition gave all of this to those who participated this year, and we would like to thank all of you who helped make these experiences possible for our youth!

and it's never too late to support the program!

Summer Science Academy is in full swing! We're having a great time this summer with explorers who have joined us for our Summer Explorers, Summer Afield and Exploring the East Branch Creek programs. Kids are loving the chance to splash around in the creek and they're learning about their local environment at the same time! And there is plenty more in store for the summer. Check out the programs we still have available:

Lake Delmont & Ruth Pond
July 12, 17, 19 & 29

European water chestnut season is upon us once again! Water chestnut is a non-native invasive aquatic plant that begins to appear in early June-August and threatens to take over our waterways if left untreated. This invasive plant forms dense mats on lakes, creeks and ponds making recreation difficult, and negatively impacting wildlife and water quality.

We need your help to successfully eradicate this plant from our watershed!
Schwenksville to the Delaware Bay
June 24 - 28, 2019
The third running of the Perki-Bay Expedition is in the books! The group had some beautiful weather, and has some amazing stories to tell. This year's team consisted of 22 paddlers which included our Conservation Corps (high school) students, college interns, Conservancy staff and volunteer safety boaters. The team completed the 5-day canoe trip starting on the Perkiomen Creek in Schwenksville and ending 50 miles downstream at Fort Mifflin on the Delaware. The Expedition was a great learning experience for the students, and helped to raise support for the protection of the Perkiomen Creek.

We would like to thank our sponsors and the many generous individual supporters who made this possible at no cost to the students!
You can still help!
