A Message from the Director
This year's Lenape Challenge certainly lived up to its name! Heavy rain on Friday brought extreme conditions for Saturday's race. We had shoe-sucking mud on Spring Mount and the Perkiomen was ripping at 2,000 cfs (the maximum level we can safely run the race), but our racers seemed to relish in the hardships! We had lots of flips, spills and slides, but no incurable disasters and everyone seemed to finish with a smile! Thanks to everyone involved (especially Telford Dive Unit) for helping to make the day a success!

Up next is the Perkiomen Native Plant Sale at the Peter Wentz Farmstead. Come on out this Saturday, May 11th to select a few natives for your yard. Planting natives is one of the best things you can do to support water and wildlife conservation in the Perkiomen Valley. We have thousands of plants and hundreds of species for sale... you don't want to miss this one!!

On June 1st, we'll take another crack at hosting the Perkiomen Creek Sojourn. We've requested better weather for this year's event, and we're sure it won't disappoint! I paddled the creek last week and saw two bald eagles, an osprey, and two dozen other birds. Plus, neighbors have sent in videos of river otters playing in the creek! The Perkiomen is certainly a hidden gem... Come on out and explore it with us!! We have boats to rent and a free lunch for all participants and volunteers.
Enjoy the weather, and I hope to see you at our next event!
