Let Me Run
Let Me Run is back! It's a program that inspires boys through the power of running to be courageous enough to be themselves, build healthy relationships, and to live an active lifestyle! This is the third year we've done the program at Gilles-Sweet for boys in 4th-5th grades.

Start with Hello
Again this year, Gilles Sweet students will be taking part in the "Start With Hello" program at school. The "Start With Hello" program is sponsored by the Sandy Hook Promise (SHP); a national, nonprofit organization based in Newtown, Connecticut. "Start With Hello" teaches students the skills they need to reach out and include those who may be dealing with chronic social isolation and create a culture of inclusion and connectedness within their classroom, school or youth organization. Social isolation is the overwhelming feeling of being left out, lonely, or treated like you are invisible. Excessive feelings of isolation can be associated with violent behavior. Furthermore, young people who are isolated can become victims of bullying, violence, and/or depression.
We encourage you to talk to your child about the "Start With Hello" program and ask them to share what they have learned. For more information on the "Start With Hello"program and to sign up to receive the "Start With Hello" Parent Brochure, please visit:

Parents of students who use the Personalized Learning Platform (PLP) in their classes may be interested in attending a PLP workshop. Each event will include a presentation plus time for questions and individual assistance.
September Theme: "The Four Views: Week, Year, Progress, and College" - Special emphasis on the anatomy of projects and playlists and how to help at home.
Several dates and times have been scheduled to accommodate your busy schedule:

: Juniors and Sophomores are highly encouraged to take the PSAT on October 10th. Cost is $16 payable by check to Fairview Park Schools. Mrs. Merrill in the Counseling Office will collect those.
