Greetings!

It's the time of year to give thanks and the DeKalb Medical Foundation is thankful for you!  We appreciate the support of our employees, individuals in the community, physicians and businesses that call themselves part of our Foundation family.  Without you, it would not be possible for us to continue the expansion of services, purchase new technology and improve the quality of care our patients receive each and every day!

DeKalb Medical Partners with General Electric
ICU takes part in case study

General Electric (GE) representative Annette Waters recently toured DeKalb Medical's intensive care unit (ICU) to gather information for a GE healthcare leadership development course. As part of this course, leaders within GE were paired from across the globe and asked to gather information on basic standards for best in class results in intensive care units and neonatal intensive care units. A final global assessment was conducted in Turkey this past October as part of the group's presentation, and a tool was developed by the students to identify key performance indicators more in-depth. Senior Account Manager, Troy Todd, stated, "GE is proud to work with DeKalb Medical on this project. This research will help hospitals in developing areas improve the service they provide to critically ill patients, and ultimately saves lives. It was inspiring to see so many members of the DeKalb Medical team come together to share their knowledge, skills, and expertise to help people that live half a world away."

Foundation Donor Recognized as Philanthropist of the Year
Dr. M. Bobbie Bailey honored for contributions

Dr. Bailey was presented with the 2012 Philanthropist of the Year Award by the Atlanta Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals last month at the Georgia Aquarium. Bailey was recognized for donations to local organizations, including the DeKalb Medical Foundation, Kennesaw State University and UNICEF. Her gifts to DeKalb Medical have been used to purchase state-of-the-art technology for diagnostic and treatment services throughout the health system.

Gulshan Harjee, M.D. introduced Dr. Bailey at the luncheon and described the impact Dr. Bailey had made in her home of Tanzania through her support of UNICEF.

Thank you to all our donors and volunteers that support our mission of strengthening the link between DeKalb Medical and the community we serve through communication, education, service and philanthropy. We are dedicated to improving the standard of health in our community by raising friends and funds for healthcare initiatives offered through DeKalb Medical.
