Diocesan Confirmations at Christ Church Cathedral

On Saturday, June 14, Archbishop John Stephens confirmed 52 people in a service held at Christ Church Cathedral. He also received three into the Anglican Communion and reaffirmed two Anglicans.


Archbishop Stephens said candidates being confirmed, reaffirmed and received were marking “a point on their life journey where a deeper connection to the Gospel of Christ is awakening them to a deeper trust in God.”

Ordinations


On June 21 at Christ Church Cathedral at 10:30am, Archbishop John Stephens will ordain four candidates to the transitional diaconate:

  • Dara Crandall
  • Neil Jongbloed
  • Sarah Lehman
  • Claude St-Denis


The Rev. Canon Dr. Martin Brokenleg will preach at the service and the dioceses' Elder-in-Residence Rikki Kooy will be present to give the land acknowledgement.



Clergy are invited to vest. The liturgical colour is red.


Following their ordinations, the newly ordained transitional deacons will move into curacies at these parishes:


Sarah Lehaman - St. Catherine's, North Vancouver


Dara Crandall - St. Mark's, Ocean Park


Neil Jongbloed - St. Stephen's, Burnaby and St. Timothy's, Brentwood.


Claude St-Denis - Christ Church Cathedral

Archbishop John Stephens has appointed the Rev. Anne Privett as Rector of St. Philip's, Dunbar, effective July 1. Rev. Privett had been serving as interim priest-in-charge at St. Philip's.


Vestments Needed

Do you have vestments you no longer need and would be willing to donate?


The Indigenous Ministries of the Anglican Church of Canada is seeking vestments for their clergy. Specifically the following items are being requested:

stoles, chasubles, albs, tippets, cassocks, surplices, copes and any other items anyone is willing to donate.


Any donations of vestments can be brought to the Synod office. The diocese will forward vestments to National Indigenous Ministries

NOTICE

From June 22 to July 21 Archbishop John Stephens will be away.

During that time, Executive Archdeacon Nick Pang will be the Commissary. Should matters arise that require urgent attention, contact the executive archdeacon.

CHURCH: St. Helen, Surrey


St. Helen’s Anglican Church, Surrey, BC, seeks a qualified musician on piano and pipe organ for the parish's Music Ministry. The successful candidate will collaborate with the Rector in planning liturgy, music, and hymn selections for each season. Over time, as the choir develops, additional rehearsal time led by the musician may be required. Remuneration commensurate with experience and qualifications, as described in the Royal Canadian College of Organists (RCCO) Salary Guidelines.
