In Giving We Receive: Donating Publicly Traded Securities

Did you know that donating publicly traded securities is one of the most generous and tax-effective ways to support your parish or ministry of choice in the Diocese of New Westminster?

When you give stocks, bonds, or mutual funds directly to a charitable organization, you do not pay capital gains tax on any appreciated value. This means your generosity stretches further, empowering the ministries and people you care about, while you receive a larger charitable tax receipt.

Your gift fuels our mission to grow communities of faith in Jesus Christ and to carry out God’s mission in the world — through worship, compassionate service, and meaningful outreach.

Tax rules vary, so we encourage you to consult a tax professional to understand how this giving option works for your circumstances.

To explore this way to give contact the diocesean Director of Finance, Shailene Caparas (CPA, CGA).
