Diocesan Clergy in Whitehorse

Several diocesan clergy are taking turns spending a week - or more - in Whitehorse. They will preside over worship and help with other ministries during their time there. This week the Ven. Synod Office Notable Dates

OFFICE CLOSED

The Synod Office will be closed on Wednesday, July 30. Staff will be taking part in First Aid training.

ARCHIVES SUMMER CLOSURE

The Diocesan Archives will be closed from August 20-22.

Celebration of New Ministry - The Rev. Vineet Samuel

On Wednesday July 30 at 7pm, the Rev. Vineet Samuel will be formally installed as Vicar of St. John the Divine, Maple Ridge and Holy Spirit, Whonnock.

The service will take place at St. John the Divine, Maple Ridge. All are welcome.

Clergy are welcome to vest. The liturgical colour is green.

2026 Church Calendar Pre-Order

The ACW is pleased to offer the Anglican Church Calendar for 2026.

The 2026 Canadian Anglican Church Calendar is now in its 120th year. The calendar continues the tradition of showcasing beloved Anglican churches from coast to coast.

Penelope (Penny) Charlesworth, ODNW

March 1, 1937 - April 29, 2025

For over thirty years, Penny was a central figure in all aspects of life at Christ Church Cathedral; as a warden, parish council rep, a member of many ministries and a contributor to all major cathedral events. If you kneel while praying at the Cathedral, you might be resting on one of the beautiful kneeling benches that she and others refurbished. For her generous service, Penny was inducted into the Order of the Diocese of New Westminster.

In 2017, Penny and her husband Ted moved to Comox to be closer to family, thus closing a significant chapter in Penny's involvement at the Cathedral.

She died on April 29 in Courtenay, BC surrounded by her loved ones. May she rest in peace. A full obituary is available here.

FORMATION OPPORTUNITIES

Camp Artaban for Clergy

Never been to Camp Artaban before? Not been in years and years? Clergy are invited to take part in a special day at Camp Artaban on Tuesday, August 26.

The cost of the day is $100, which includes water taxi, lunch and snacks. Clergy Continuing Education funds may be applied to this day.

Knowing & Unknowing: MInistry in a Liminal Time

Some call this a ‘liminal season’ — a time when individuals and institutions are struggling with surprising forces inside and out. Leadership in ministry today requires dexterity in navigating the ‘known and the unknown’ of this time.

This VST conference brings together ministry leaders and preachers to offer wisdom into this liminal season from a variety of perspectives.
