Parent Teacher Conferences are upon us. I hope that you have found a workable time to meet with your child's teacher. I have found one-on-one time with teachers to be invaluable. I wanted you to know that I will have a couple of tables set up in the MPR for children to use if they are attending conferences with you. Teachers often have activities set up outside their classroom doors for the children, too.
Teachers will have a copy of your child's report card available for you at your conference. However, you can easily view your child's grades ahead of time by visiting
Net Classroom.
Once logged into Net Classroom, click on "grades" on the green bar. If you have more than one student at DMC, you can select the appropriate student on the left by using the drop down tab. If you do not remember your username or password, please contact
Carmen in the Elementary Office at 252-2485. We are happy to help you with this process.
I look forward to seeing all of you at school next week!
Many Blessings,
Karla Lowe, Elementary Principal

#GoTechnology
During chapel this past week, we showed a "Friendship with Fred" video which showed Fred being upset by the on-line messages Ellie Mae was sending to him. While Ellie Mae thought she was being funny, Fred was upset by the way he was being treated. After viewing the video, we split into different chapel groups in order to facilitate more discussion. K-2 students remained in the MPR with Mrs. Kelly. Students in grades 3-6 broke into small groups to talk about appropriate ways to communicate with others when using social media. While God does not specifically talk about technology in the Bible, we discussed the fact that He does talk to us about being responsible and treating others respectfully. Take time to ask your child about the TECH contract that was presented on Thursday. Our 5th grade teacher, Mrs. Bakker, created it. It is a useful document for all of us!
T = TRUSTWORTHY & SAFE Be trustworthy to stay on task, and only view safe and appropriate websites.
E = EDUCATIONAL You may use only educational programs and websites during school time.
C = CONSIDERATE OF OTHERS Always be kind and considerate when you work with others.
H = HANDLE WITH CARE Handle the devices carefully, and be respectful of others who will use the same devices.
