On September 12th, Sr. Margaret Magee gave a wonderful presentation on her trip to Mozambique to the sisters at the St. Elizabeth Motherhouse.
During her visit, Margaret visited with Sisters Abadia, Liliane, and Eurípedes, as well as members of Nova Aliança. In her presentation, Margaret describes her experiences with the sisters, the culture of Mozambique, and her visit with Bishop Hilário da Cruz Massinga, OFM. Her presentation includes beautiful pictures and videos of the sisters and the community of Maganja da Costa.

Book Review: Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Man
By Emmanuel Acho, Published 2020
By: Linda Dees, Associate
| |
Emmanuel invites us to pull up a chair to the table which sits in a safe place, "a space to learn things you've always wondered about, a place where questions you may have been afraid to ask get answered." This book is an eye opening wealth of knowledge written in a very readable form.
Each chapter begins with a question followed by some history on the topic which he refers to as "Let's Rewind". This is followed by "Let's Get Uncomfortable" where he speaks current hard truths and each chapter ends with action known as, "Talk it, Walk it," which includes suggestions on how to get involved. It too includes more references to explore.
I highly recommend this book as a way to broaden one's core value of Reverence that we proclaim and highly value as Franciscan Sisters and Associates.
