Obituary
A graduate of our own St. Joseph's Teachers' College, Sister also had a Bachelor of Science in Primary Education and Master's of Science in Guidance and Counselling from St. Bonaventure University. Over the years she ministered as Principal at St. Anne's Primary, St. Francis All-Age, and Mt. Alvernia Preparatory Schools. She taught at St. Aloysius Boys' School and later was Vice-Principal and classroom teacher at St. Aloysius Primary School. In her later years she taught Catholic doctrine to the children at Alvernia Preparatory School and St. Francis Primary School. Her last ministry was that of Plant Manager at St. Joseph's Teachers' College.

Sister Magdalen's pleasant countenance and beautiful smile endeared her to her students and colleagues alike. We pray that she is receiving the heavenly reward of her faithful, joyful service to her God.

2021 Annual Report
The Leviticus Fund had its annual meeting recently. We have $40,000 invested in this alternative investment related to housing and other neighborhood projects.

I attended part of the meeting virtually. Congregational Leadership received the 2021 Annual Report.

There are different efforts being made to address racial inequities, especially in real estate. More recent initiatives were adopted in January 2022 to work for more racial and ethnic justice in lending opportunities.

How to Avoid a Scam
Information Curtesy of the Federal Trade Commission
With so much advanced technology in the world today it is easy to be tricked by scams.

Scammers use phone calls, email, postal mail, and the internet to trick you into sending money or giving out personal information. Recognizing common signs of a scam could help you avoid falling for one.

We have provided for you a pdf brochure to help guide and teach you some of the signs of a scam and how to avoid them.

The Congregational Office will be providing printed brochures to all of the offices, staff, sisters within the St. Elizabeth Motherhouse, and others.
Annual Franciscan Federation Conference 2022
June 3 - 6
My First Franciscan Federation Conference
I was thrilled to attend my first Franciscan Federation Conference. What a delight it was to be with so many of our Franciscan Sisters and Brothers from so many different communities - like hearted and like minded individuals who share common values and goals! We are so blessed to count among our group brilliant minds such as Sr. Margaret Carney, OSF and Sr. Ilia Delio, OSF, as well as be challenged by author and speaker Brian McLaren. Each added so much to the weekend with their wisdom and insights. What a gift it was to be together to celebrate a beautiful Pentecost Liturgy. The Spirit was so present and alive among us. How I wish that each of you could have been there with us. Speaking of us, the Allegany representation for this conference was Margaret McGee, Helen Roberts, Lucy Cardet, Michele Dolyk, Kathie Uhler and myself, Linda Dees. I left the conference feeling that I just can't wait for next year's conference to come. I hope that many of you Sisters and Associates will make plans to attend in St. Louis, MO next year. For any of you who have never been, it is so worth your efforts and is such an energizing experience to be a participant in; and for those of you who haven't been for awhile, please consider coming back and add to the Franciscan joy!

Humbly submitted, Linda Dees
