To Our Valued Friends of the Library:

It is summertime in Alabama, school is out and the beach is beckoning!  We would like to take this opportunity to extend our congratulations to the Spring Hill College Class of 2012.  Their achievements are noteworthy and we wish them every success in their future endeavors.

We would like to offer a special thank you to three library work study students who graduated this semester:  Seirra Collins-Hampton (Circulation), Hannah Zimmerman (Archives), and Charles Gomes (Help Desk).  They will be missed.

We hope that all of our new graduates will take advantage of the many alumni activities at Spring Hill and we encourage them to become active members of the Friends of the Library.  A new membership is a great graduation gift for oneself or a thoughtful remembrance for someone special.

Burke Portrait 2

The artist, Ms. Stephanie Morris (at left), with Dr. Boyle's wife, Mrs. Roberta Boyle, and Dr. John Hafner, FOL President, at the dedication ceremony.

It is always a pleasure to welcome our alumni, parents, and other special guests to the campus and this year's Homecoming was a very special occasion as we honored the memory of Dr. Charles Boyle, beloved educator, archivist and friend, with a specially commissioned portrait.  Dr. Boyle's family and friends were on hand for the unveiling on April 21, 2012 in the Barter Room at Burke Library.

Next time you are in the library, we hope you will visit the archives for a personal viewing.

The Annual Friends of the Library Dinner

Viva Italia!

The Friend's annual dinners have become eagerly anticipated, not-to-be-missed events that bring friends, colleagues, and acquaintances together for a wonderful meal, silent auction and  special entertainment...and this year's Italian theme gathering was no exception.

Nearly 80 Friends of the Library enjoyed fine Italian dining and music while generating  $1,000 for the library during the silent auction.

The dinner was planned and hosted by Ms. Merv White-Spunner, former FOL president, who worked tirelessly on our behalf.  We appreciate her efforts and service and welcome Dr. John Hafner as our incoming president.
