Greetings and happy holidays from the Hastings College Teacher Education Department! We hope the holidays are filled with joy for you.
We appreciate the occasional emails or notes we receive from graduates. Thank you for keeping in touch! We are eager to be of assistance to you, and we love to hear about your experiences as teachers, administrators, graduate students, coaches or substitutes.
Included below is the list of our first-year teachers and the schools where they are teaching. Congratulations! Please let us know if we have missed anyone. We want to celebrate our graduates' successes.
We've also included pictures and information from our 2014 Jackson trip (a group photo is above). I hope the pictures and article cause many of you to think back on your own awesome J-term trip to Jackson or Belize or Rosebud or Denver or Omaha or Chicago.
This spring when you receive our graduate follow-up survey, will you be sure to reply? Please let us know what experiences were especially meaningful and how we can make our program even better.
Happy Holidays,
Dr. Kass Rempp
Professor and Chair

Preparations are underway for the Multi-Cultural Education J-term trip to Jackson, Mississippi.
Hastings College students, in partnership with Millsaps College, will spend three days observing and offering instructional support to area K-12 school systems. In addition, students will learn along the way at places such as the Lorraine Hotel where Martin Luther King was assassinated, Tougaloo College that was built on the site of a slave plantation, the film location for The Help and a cypress grove at LeFleur's Bluff State Park.
Read more about the 2014 J-Term trip on pages 12-13 of the Millsaps College Summer Magazine, which you can find here.

In keeping with the 2014 Artist Lecture Series Student Symposium theme of "Food," we invited Mr. Rod Foley, principal at Walnut Middle School in Grand Island, Nebraska, to present about the free breakfast program they offer for all students in Grand Island Public Schools. We learned how the staff makes this work in a large school, and how it affects the students. Thank you, Mr. Foley!
