Help Share the Importance of CHD Research this Month
February is Heart Month - a month dedicated to raising awareness about heart disease. This month, help spread awareness about congenital heart defects (CHDs), America's most common birth defect, and the importance of CHD research by following us on social media - Facebook , Twitter , Instagram - and sharing our videos and posts with your networks.

Each year, millions of people across the country are affected by CHDs: 40,000 new babies are born with CHDs, thousands of patients undergo surgeries, and children, teens & adults face the lifelong challenges that come with living with a CHD.

This is why we're dedicated to funding the most promising research to advance the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of CHDs. Because of advancements that have been made through research, mortality rates from CHDs in the U.S. have declined by 37.5% since 1999. With the generous support of our donors, we are able to continue to fund research that makes these life-saving advancements possible and help more and more CHD patients live longer into adulthood.

Although progress has been made, so much more work still needs to be done. Statistics like those shown in the video below inspire us to continue funding research and looking for answers:
Introducing Our New Logo & Website!
We are excited and proud to debut our newly refreshed logo and website! The Children's Heart Foundation has been in existence since 1996 and with all of the exciting things happening here at CHF - such as our re-launched Congenital Heart Walks series and the implementation of our Strategic Plan - it was the perfect time to refresh the look of both our website and logo; a true reflection all of the progress we're making at CHF.

Our new website is a great resource for information about congenital heart defects, the research we've funded over the years, why and how we fund research, stories written by those affected by CHDs, and much more!
Pennsylvania Chapter's 5th Annual Sweet Hearts Ball was a Huge Success!
The Children's Heart Foundation's Pennsylvania Chapter's 5th annual Sweet Hearts Ball took place in downtown Philadelphia at The Vie on Saturday, February 2nd. Nearly 300 attendees came out for an elegant and festive night of dinner, dancing, and a live auction, all to support and raise money for congenital heart defect (CHD) research.

Dr. Matthew Gillespie was the night's Guest of Honor, and chapter awards went to Dr. Karen Lurito (Smart Heart Award) and Lisa Ornforf (Loving Heart Award). Guests listened to an inspirational talk from CHD adult survivor, Matthew Ternowchek, and were entertained by music from The Rockets. A big thank you goes to Platinum Sponsor West Pharmaceuticals and to the other sponsors for making this night a huge success. CHF Pennsylvania Chapter board member, Erica Austin, chaired the magical event.
