HART CEO ANDREW ROBBINS TAKES YOUR CALLS ON
THIS WEEK'S HART BEAT
HART's recent submittal of it's updated recovery plan to the Federal Transit Administration was among the topics for discussion with HART Executive Director Andrew Robbins on this week's HART Beat.
Robbins also addressed the recent fire safety tests performed on HART's trains, and also addressed several phone calls and emails from listeners.
On the second and fourth Monday of each month, HART Beat is a feature of the Mike Buck Show. The program is dedicated to the Honolulu Rail Transit Project and allows listeners a chance to call and email questions for Robbins to answer.

The HART Beat on the Mike Buck Show
from June 10, 2019

You can hear HART Beat on AM 690 and 94.3 FM "The Answer," every second and fourth Monday from 7:00am to 8:00am.

HART POSTER CONTEST ENTRANTS ON DISPLAY!
The Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation's recent art poster contest was a great success, attracting
nearly 100 entrants! The theme of this year's contest was "Imagine Yourself: Ready to Ride" and was open to all Oahu high schools students.
Winners were selected from two age groups in two categories: traditional art and digital art.
Throughout June, all contest entries will be on display at Kahala Mall. Drop by and check them out! The students did a great job of capturing this year's theme!
The poster display will run through June 28th.

TIPS TO STAY SAFE WHILE...WALKING?
|
"Distracted Walking" - National Safety Council
|
Most people rarely think of walking as a dangerous activity, but as a pedestrian walking in urban areas, crossing busy streets and negotiating traffic can be hazardous.
According to the National Safety Council, in 2017, 16% of all traffic deaths were pedestrians. The NSC provides the following tips to increase your safety as a pedestrian:
- Whenever possible, walk on the sidewalk; if no sidewalk is available, walk facing traffic
- Follow the rules of the road, obeying all traffic signs and signals
- Cross streets at crosswalks
- If no crosswalk is available and your view is blocked, move to a place where you can see oncoming traffic
- Look left, right and left again before crossing the street, making eye contact with drivers of oncoming vehicles to make sure they see you
- Stay alert - avoid cell phone use and wearing earbuds
- Avoid alcohol and drug impairment when walking
- Wear bright and/or reflective clothing, and use a flashlight at night
- Watch for cars entering or exiting driveways or backing up in parking lots
- Children younger than 10 should cross the street with an adult
