Did you know that Trees of Hope is the single largest contributor to the Children’s Critical Care Fund at Star of Hope? This fund provides daily programs and services for children as young as infants to 18 years of age. Through the funding of the Children’s Critical Care Fund, Star of Hope is able to provide for the basic needs of at-risk children in the Women & Family Development Center including things like health care immunization & wellness checks, basic needs such as food, lodging, and clothing, as well as educational programs and summer camps. One of the most important and critical aspects of this fund is to provide on-site and licensed teachers for childcare. Without childcare the parents that come into the shelter would not be able to attend and complete their class and programs. With funding to the Children’s Critical Care Fund declining over the last several years, the WFDC has found themselves under staffed and unable to accept as many families. It’s heart wrenching to think of a mother who has finally come to seek help may be turned away because there is not enough staff to care for her children. Please help us make sure these families can get the help they need so that they can get back on their feet and make positive changes in their life! Your donations and support can make a huge difference in the lives of the women and children at Star of Hope!

Tree Decorating Day
In preparation for the Annual Gala, our Giving Tree members, Board members, and volunteers come together to decorate one-of-a-kind trees that will be featured in the gala auction. These ladies use their creativity to create a winter wonderland inside of the Star of Hope Distribution Center, that will later transform the gala venue. If you are interested in helping decorate the trees please contact us at 713-942-8733 or

Trees of Hope Hosted Our
Annual Mother's Day Luncheon at Star Hope
A Mother's Love
A note from Hank Rush, CEO Star of Hope.

As we celebrated our mothers this past may for Mother’s Day, we are especially appreciative of the Mother’s Day Luncheon held at our Star of Hope’s Women and Family Development Center. The afternoon was hosted by the Trees of Hope, an organization that has been supporting Star of Hope and its residents for 29 years. Our mothers were treated to a lovely lunch and encouraging words from a former resident and fellow mother, Bani.

Bani’s story is an inspirational one. She shared her journey of being homeless as a child and living at Star of Hope with her mother and siblings. During this difficult time, Bani’s mother was unable to provide school supplies, shoes, or toys … but one volunteer/donor group left a special mark on Bani’s heart. That group was Trees of Hope.

Thank you for the gifts and support YOU provide to us year-round to help us serve those in need!
