NOVEMBER 2023

Open house

On October 8, we hosted a trade skills workshop open house. We are so blessed to have a workshop to teach men skills that will help them find jobs after they graduate from the program. In addition, products built in the workshop are sold to help sustain the ministry.

Director, Michael Thompson, also dedicated the workshop to mentor and volunteer Mike Hansen who touched the lives of staff members and many program participants. The Hansen family was present and a plaque will be hung in the workshop in memory of Mr. Hansen.

First shed delivered

The new trade skills workshop is pumping out some exciting products and on October 18, a shed built by program residents was delivered to a customer.

Making handmade goods in the workshop is part of the curriculum at the House of Hope that teaches men trade skills that local employers are looking for when they graduate from the program. Plus the products we sell help sustain the ministry.

Prayers for our house staff and residents

Two program graduates have successfully transitioned into key staff roles at the House of Hope. We ask for your prayers that they will lean on God when they need it and that they will provide leadership in ways that glorify Him.

Our director wears many hats these days and we ask for prayer to maintain his health and strength as he maintains a very full schedule and challenging work.

Volunteer help needed for new initiatives

It is costly to operate a ministry that includes residential and trade skill mentoring. Therefore, our grant/fundraising committee is looking for volunteers to help implement some new initiatives in the areas of:

  • Trade skills workshop product promotion
  • T-shirt sales
  • Silent/live auction sales

If you are interested in learning more, please contact Janet Wisdom at [email protected] or Nicole at [email protected].

THANK YOU

to everyone who came out to support our fall furniture sale fundraiser!

With your support, we were able to raise $2,500 to help cover operating expenses for the ministry!

Please mark your calendar for our next Annual Fundraiser Banquet on JUNE 6, 2024.

More details coming!!

Financially Speaking......

The House of Hope is solely funded by personal, businesses, civic groups, and area churches. We thank each and every one who has given in the past and who gives on a regular basis. With this said, we continue to pray for funds to cover operating expenses and specific needs.

As 2023 soon comes to a close, there are a couple of ways you can help:

  • Giving Tuesday (November 28). While it is easy to get caught up in holiday consumerism, it is important to remember to give back and support ministries in your community. On November 28, consider giving an extra gift to the House of Hope!
  • Please consider a year-end gift. Your donation will help pay for operating expenses and allow us to continue all that God is doing to help men with addictions.

To donate, please mail a check to the address below, or you may use the "Donate" button below to give by credit/debit card or bank withdrawal.
