Talent Show April 24th
The ICS Key Club will be hosting the 2015 Talent Show on April 24th from 7-8:30 pm at ICS. The Talent Show is open to all students to both attend and perform. Parents, siblings, and friends are encouraged to come support and enjoy the show. Auditions for students in grades 6-12 will be held from March 9th-12th both during lunch (March 9th and 10th) and after school (March 9th, 11th and 12th) in Mr. Plank's room. Sign-ups for auditions will be posted near the front of the school on the bulletin boards opposite of the office from February 23rd-March 6th. Donations can be made during the talent show and all proceeds go to a Seattle-based charity, Friends of Youth, which not only provides housing for teens that are homeless but also helps them recover psychologically from trauma such as domestic violence or substance abuse. Question? Email Mr. Plank.

Volunteering

Need Parent Volunteer to Proctor AMC 10B/12B Math Competition

We will host the American Mathematics Contest (AMC) 10B/12B at 12:30PM, Feb 25th, Wednesday, in Ms V's room (140). All students are welcome to participate.

We also need a parent volunteer to proctor the contest. Parents of contestants are disqualified from the proctoring task automatically, so we need another parent volunteer who does not have a contestant. Help and instruction will be provided on site to the volunteering parent. Contact Mingtian Ni to volunteer.

Volunteering at ICS - Reminders

We have moved into the second and last semester for this school year. Preliminary reports will be run this month. Has your family worked on fulfilling their volunteer commitment of 30 hours this school year? Remember to report your hours to the PTSA website. The end of the year will be upon us in no time, and then it is very difficult to find opportunities. A few reminders:

  • Focus Week is May 18-22. Parent volunteers will be needed and requests for assistance will be posted in future newsletters.
  • Volunteer hours cannot be gifted or transferred between families.
  • Hours can be earned by adult family members or caregivers.
  • Site Work Parties/Clean up hours count for ALL family members who attend - students, siblings, parents, etc.

If you need help finding opportunities, please read the weekly PTSA newsletter - this is where volunteer opportunities are advertised. You can also contact committee chairs directly if you'd like to work with a particular committee. Their contact information can be found in the school directory, or at this link on the PTSA website. If you still need help identifying opportunities or have questions, please contact Kathy Thompson, Volunteer Coordinator. Thank you in advance for supporting our school, staff and students!

Reporting Volunteer Hours

In order to record your volunteer hours, first log into the PTSA website using the log in form on the right side of the homepage, and then click on Input Volunteer Hours under the Volunteering menu item on the left side of the screen. Complete all of the required information and click on the Submit button. If you've already entered volunteer hours in the past, your last entry will be pre-populated on the screen. Simply edit the Category, Hours, and Comments (if necessary) and click on the Submit button once. If you do not click on the Submit button, your hours will not be recorded.

Note: You will first need to create an account on the website. Once you've registered and confirmed your registration, please allow 24 hours for your account to be approved. You will need an active account to enable you to post your volunteer hours. If you have questions about reporting your hours on the website or have trouble logging in, please contact Shafik Keshani.
