Indiana Free Legal Answers
In May, Indiana Free Legal Answers ranked in the top 10 states in the country for registered volunteers with 320 attorneys. Indiana Free Legal Answers has increased its number of volunteers by over 30% in 2020. Congratulations to Pro Bono Indiana and the Southern Indiana Pro Bono Referrals staff for achieving this success.

The number of questions submitted over the past month has doubled. Housing and foreclosure questions are expected to rise in August as the courts re-open. Please sign up today to answer questions from anywhere, and reach out to fellow attorneys and encourage them to assist low-income Hoosiers at indiana.freelegalanswers.org. Volunteers are provided resources to assist in answering questions.
Board Member Recognition
Five outgoing board members were recognized at the June 26 board meeting for their service: Amy Noe Dudas, Hon. Thomas Felts, Hon. Melissa May, Andrew Northern, and Derrick Wilson. The Foundation wants to give a special thanks to Amy Noe Dudas, who served on the board for eight years, including two years as board chair. Thank you for your outstanding leadership!
Civic Education Task Force Meeting
The Foundation held its second Indiana Civic Education Task Force meeting this month. Led by Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch, members heard from national and local experts on innovations in civic education, including structure of teaching, assessment, and utilizing technology. Those interested can watch the full presentations here.

The task force will utilize the information gathered during these meetings to produce a report laying out specific, actionable recommendations to increase civic education opportunities for all Hoosiers, which in turn will serve as a catalyst to increase Indiana's overall civic health.
Keystone Society
As the largest private funder of civil legal aid in Indiana, the Foundation provides critical help for Hoosiers to protect their livelihood, their health, and their families through grants to civil legal aid providers and pro bono programs across the state.

Please consider making a gift to the Indiana Bar Foundation. You can renew or join our most generous donors in the Keystone Society with a minimum annual contribution of $1,000 or more. Monthly payments are available as well. If you have questions, please contact Kim Berry, Director of Development, at [email protected] or 317-269-7864 to learn more.
