OYR ENews March 1 2011 | I Adar 25, 5771

Greetings!

It's March.  It's Adar.  Be happy.  Spring is almost here (at least according to our resident groundhog).   So it must also be time to make the hamantashen. This year I'll probably be buying them because there are just so many wonderful things going on in our community - who has time to bake?  But if I do manage to, the recipe I use is this one from Joan Nathan's The Jewish Holiday Kitchen, which makes about 36 delicious triangles.   Click here for the recipe.

If you haven't done so already, please check out the new Kehillah of Old York Road webpage and calendar by clicking here for information on what's going on in our neighborhood.

Thank you!

Attention local synagogues and agencies:  If you are offering a program that is open to the community and would like it posted on our NEW Kehillah of Old York Road Community Calendar, please complete the Calendar Registration Form by clicking here. Only programs presented within the Kehillah will be listed.

URGENT!  KIDNEY DONOR NEEDED
Leora Eisenstadt's father is in need of a kidney transplant.  He is blood type O and family members are not a match. Simple blood tests will determine if a potential donor is a match. Surgery for the donor is done laparoscopically, usually involving a 2 night stay in the hospital and several weeks of recovery.  All of the donor's medical costs will be covered by the recipient's medical insurance. The Paired Exchange Program is another available option where any person of any blood type who is willing to be a donor is put into a pool of potential donors. Through a matching process, a matching donor for him can hopefully be found. If you are interested in being a donor or know of someone who is, please contact Leora Eisenstadt, at leora.eisenstadt@gmail.com or 917-915-4913.
