Lecture: The Future of Our Forests - What a Southern Pine Beetle Outbreak Means for Nantucket

Nantucket Land Bank is teaming up with Nantucket Conservation Foundation to bring you this informative lecture on Southern Pine Beetles and our local ecosystems.


Emily Goldstein Murphy PhD, Director of Environmental & Agricultural Resources at the Land Bank and Danielle O'Dell, Wildlife Research Ecologist at the Nantucket Conservation Foundation will be presenting on the Southern Pine Beetle outbreak at Ram Pasture and how climate change is bringing this forest pest to Nantucket's pitch pine habitats. They will touch on local and regional impacts of the Southern Pine Beetle and the preventative measures both of our organizations are taking to manage these forests and increase their resiliency in the face of this destructive threat.
