It's a Beautiful Day in OUR Neighborhood, but We're Missing All Your Smiling Faces!

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU
Last week I asked if anyone in our community could make washable, fabric masks with pockets for our library staff. And, boy howdy, did our library community step up!
Within 3 days I had multiple offers to make masks; and then I had multiple offers to stop by and drop some off! Special thanks goes to our talented, quick sewers Jenny Misner and Diane Scott.

Jenny is on Facebook and making masks for our community as a way of giving back; Susan Cramton made the pickup and dropoff arrangements. Thank you both.

Diane Scott made her donated masks for her hometown library from kits supplied by Marie Nemec Frostman. Marie is coordinating the
#HuntleyStrong Hometown Heroes Project – kits that include fabric and elastic. Contact Marie at mvnf218@comcast.net for more information about the kits.

 WHILE WE'RE CLOSED
Department managers Heather, Angel, Kim and I have started cleaning up our Youth Services shelves.

Complete Count!

You can respond to the 2020 Census online, by phone, or by mail.
Let's Make the Ella Johnson Library District Response Rate 100%!
As of May 10, 2020, self-response rate for the 2020 Census in the state of Illinois is 63.7%, favorably compared to the national average of 58.6%. That is something to be proud of; we remain in the top ten among states (we're #9).

But there is still work to be done; the national ending total in 2010 was 72% . Illinois needs to aspire to exceed that level, if we are to maintain our congressional districts, our electoral college votes, and our federal funding that is allocated per-capita (including library funding!)
