Lovejoy Community,

We did it! The 2021-2022 school year was filled with thousands of big and small moments that mattered. We provided our students with phenomenal academic and extracurricular experiences. I am exceptionally proud of the growth and accomplishments of our students and the way teachers and staff lived our core values.

This will be the final Connect with Katie until July when we gear up for the 2022-2023 school year. The first day of school is August 15, 2022.

Thank you for an incredible school year, Leopards. I hope you will spend this summer with the people you love doing the things that you love.

There is only ONE LOVEJOY and we are ALL LEOPARDS!

Lovejoy Proud,

Katie Kordel
Superintendent

Congratulations to the Class of 2022! Graduation is a significant milestone representing 13 years of hard work, perseverance, set-backs, and successes. As a Lovejoy High School graduate, they are moving into the world representing the Lovejoy ISD Graduate Profile.

  • Intellectually Equipped
  • Open to the Challenges of Learning
  • Well-Rounded
  • Engaged in a Healthy Lifestyle
  • Fair and Respectful to Others
  • Works for Justice in the Community

These principles will continue to serve them well as they pursue their interests and passions. We are exceptionally proud of our graduates and cannot wait to see their continued positive impact in the world. We wish them much success and urge them to continue learning, growing, and responding in love and service to others. They will always be Leopards!

We started a new tradition this year at graduation. Lovejoy HS Teacher and Lovejoy Historical Society curator, Ray Cooper, brought forth a suggestion to start a new graduation tradition that combines Lovejoy’s history and celebrates our students. Each Lovejoy HS graduate received a burlap gift bag containing Texas Wildflower seeds and soil from the little red school house. Each gift bag had a tag with the sentiment below. A special thank you to Anne Smith, Michelle Wilde, Sandi Petty, and Stephanie Kranz for helping to put together the gift for our graduates.

The Foundation for Lovejoy schools awarded more than 117 grants worth more than $760,000 to the teachers and staff of Lovejoy! These grants will touch every student and classroom within Lovejoy ISD. We are so grateful to our community for making this possible!

Senior Walk took place on Friday morning. This is a Lovejoy tradition where Senior students take a final walk through the building and exit into the courtyard where students, parents, and our community gather to cheer them on.

On Saturday, May 21st, the Senior Booster Club put on an outstanding tailgate event for our seniors and their families.

Sloan Creek provided many opportunities for students to get creative and have fun the last few weeks of school. Theme days included "Anything but a Backpack Day" and "Hat Days" as well as a Tug of War competition. Congratulations to Sloan Creek's 2022 Tug of War Champions pictured below!

There is nothing more adorable than Pre-K graduation! The Lovejoy ISD Carrie L. Lovejoy Child Development Center celebrated students at the 2022 Pre-K graduation. Our Pre-K students have worked hard and played hard to be kindergarten ready. We were excited to celebrate this accomplishment with their parents and the Lovejoy Child Development Center team.

When the kids are away the teachers play! On Friday afternoon, Lovejoy teachers and staff celebrated retirements, significant years of service, and the end of the school year.

Willow Springs Middle School was victorious in our first ever staff Tug of War contest.  They get to keep an awesome trophy and bragging rights for the year!

A special thank you to our Safety and Security Team for their presence at our many end of the year events, including our staff celebration and graduation. We appreciate all you do!

Our end of the year staff event was made possible by the following sponsors and donors. Thank you for making this a positive, fun event in celebration of our wonderful educators and staff!

The Lovejoy High School team celebrated Chris Mayfield's leadership and impact. LHS staff presented Mr. Mayfield with a picture of Lovejoy High School that was signed by each member of the team. We wish Mr. Mayfield much joy and happiness in his new endeavors.

Lovejoy ISD is committed to providing consistent, transparent communication with our community and employees. One avenue of communication is a timely presentation of Board Meeting minutes to our community. Follow the link below to view a summary of our most recent Regular Meeting notes.

In an effort to consolidate communications coming from the District, we we are now including Board Meeting Invitations, as well as Board Briefs in Lovejoy's weekly Connect with Katie. We anticipate this streamlined communication will benefit families on multiple campuses, who receive a numerous campus/district communications.

*It is important to note that these unofficial Board Minutes that have not been reviewed/approved by the Lovejoy ISD Board of Trustees.

Kindergarten enrollment is now open for the 2022-2023 school year! If your child turns five by September 1, 2022 please complete the pre-enrollment form found online to begin the registration process.

Early enrollment benefits students by providing a sense of excitement about the upcoming school year. Additionally, early enrollment allows the district to plan for kindergarten staffing and resources.

We look forward to meeting each one of our future leopards!
Health and Safety Measures. For the most up-to-date information please visit Lovejoy ISD's 2021-2022 Health and Safety Measures website which may be found here.

Lovejoy ISD staff will be holding a drill to test logistics and communication planning in case of a real emergency in the district, and need parent and student volunteers (completed grades 2-8).

The event will take place on June 7 from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM. This is a great opportunity to support our administration and help them prepare for scenarios we hope will never happen.
