Lovejoy Community,
On Thursday and Friday of this past week, Shattered Dreams took place at Lovejoy High School. Shattered Dreams is a high school-based program that promotes responsible decision-making among high school students regarding drunk and distracted driving. This impactful program poignantly conveys how irresponsible choices can shatter dreams.
Shattered Dreams utilizes a realistic demonstration of an alcohol related crash and the aftermath including the impact on innocent victims, friends, and family members. This program had a deeply personal impact on Lovejoy High School because it involved our students, local first responders, and community members in planning and implementing the program.
The incredible partnership and investment of so many of our parents is a key component in Lovejoy ISD’s legacy of excellence. The Lovejoy High School PTSO sponsored Shattered Dreams, making this an exceptional example of how parent-school partnership positively impacts students.
Lovejoy ISD would like to thank the following people and organizations that helped in planning and executing Shattered Dreams. Their involvement is a humbling reminder that our schools and community are filled with people who care deeply about others and are willing to step forward to make an impact.
- Lucas Fire Department
- Fairview Fire Department

The goal was to make this event appear as realistic as possible. We want to be clear that the event was entirely staged. No students were in danger and no crimes were committed.
There is only ONE LOVEJOY and we are ALL LEOPARDS!
Lovejoy Proud,

As part of last week's focus on alcohol related car accidents, on Wednesday, March 30, Lovejoy High School participated in an event called, Day of the Living Dead. This program, organized by the Student Council and PTSO, symbolized the loss of life (and shattered dreams) caused by someone driving while under the influence or while intoxicated.
Every day, 28 people die in drug and alcohol related car accidents. To represent the loss of life, 28 students were pulled from classes and returned in makeup and costume to represent this loss of precious life. In this role, they did not speak or text anyone. Through this demonstration it was very apparent how precious each life is, and students were encouraged to make the right choices to ensure that no one is lost under such tragic circumstances.

Lovejoy ISD has a strong commitment to supporting students in building future ready skills. As part of this commitment, some of our students participate in vocational exploration. Lovejoy High School student, Trenton Gant, participates in this program. Lovejoy team members Amy Burks and Debra Tredder are instrumental to supporting students in this program. They share that they are extremely proud of Trenton’s progress and hard work. Trenton, we are all #Lovejoy Proud of you!
This impactful program is made possible through a business partnership with Two Rows restaurant. We are grateful to the owners of Two Rows, Baine and Juli Brooks, for a partnership that provides student opportunities that would not otherwise be possible.
