Dear Lovejoy Families,

Happy Friday Leopards! Lovejoy has had much to celebrate this week with Niche rankings placing us in the #1 spot in Collin County and #6 spot in the State of Texas. We enjoyed a great celebratory breakfast at Lovejoy High School in honor of our National Merit Scholarship and Recognition recipients.
Our Lovejoy High School Girls Varsity Golf Team secured a 1st place finish at the RHS Big 4 Classic tournament and Freshman Maria Faoro won her debut high school diving invitational. We are truly #LovejoyProud!
This week has also brought some challenges.

The Homecoming Dance on Saturday was interrupted by an unsubstantiated threat. The Collin County Sheriff's Office responded and all students and staff were released safely and without incident. We do recognize this was very scary for our students, parents, and staff. We also recognize the need to have additional conversations regarding our emergency protocols. Lovejoy ISD utilizes the Standard Response Protocol to provide clear shared language between students, staff, and first responders. The Standard Response Protocol is shown below. A printable version may be found here.
We will be providing additional safety and security updates in the coming weeks.

An additional challenge this week was the freezing of pay steps for returning teachers, nurses, and librarians which was a decision made in the spring. This was part of the budget reduction process, but was not communicated to our valued staff members. On Monday night, I will be making a recommendation to the Board of Trustees that impacted staff receive the full amount of the step increase in a November supplemental pay check.
I hope to see you and your family this weekend at one of our various events. Tonight and tomorrow night our LHS Theatre Department will present The Lost Boy...it's not too late to buy tickets.
Tomorrow Cross Country competes in the McNeil Invitational in Round Rock, Swim and Dive competes in Frisco, and Band and Guard compete in the Denton Golden Triangle. We wish all of our students much success.

Wishing you and your family a great Friday and an even better weekend.

Lovejoy Proud,

Katie Kordel

Sponsorship Opportunity

We are reaching out in effort to find a sponsor interested in supporting our monthly Heart of a Teacher and Heart of Support awards. These awards will be presented on a monthly basis, September - March to a teacher and staff member from each school who are living Lovejoy's core values. We are interested in our sponsor providing 12 - $50 gift cards each month of the awards for a total annual commitment of $4,200. We would, of course, advertise and thank our sponsor for their sponsorship and partnership of these awards. This will include messages of thanks for the sponsor in the monthly email which will be sent to our community (7,900+ subscribers) and individual thank yous to the sponsor each month on our district Facebook and Twitter accounts. Additionally, we will have our principals share thanks in their principal emails each month (11,500+ subscribers).

If you are interested in this sponsorship opportunity, please contact Stacey Dillon at 469.742.8003 or stacey_dillon@lovejoyisd.net.

Thank you for your consideration and support of Lovejoy ISD!
