President's Message: 2019 an Exciting Year for Women's Golf

I am privileged to be President of the MnMetro Chapter in 2019-looking to be an exciting year for women's golf. We often hear "I don't have time for golf", but I along with many of our members know the value of golf as a great game combining sport, exercise, friendship and connections. A major benefit of LPGA Amateurs is to save you time by having golf setup and ready to play: leagues, events, clinics, and extra/pickup rounds. If you or a friend are new to golf, we can help you get basic skills and have a league for newer golfers.

The LPGA Amateurs merger is complete and we expect to see more benefits moving forward. Our enthusiastic board and volunteers have started planning for next year - we NEED YOUR IDEAS AND HELP!
  • Members: we are a member-based organization looking to grow and continue to provide more golf leagues, events, and activities for our diverse group of women. Please introduce a friend or colleague to our Chapter. We can help new golfers get a good start to the game.
  • Volunteers: our Chapter has no paid staff and runs on volunteer power. We are always looking for new volunteers for activities ranging from running committees to single events. I encourage all members to help us with at least one event in 2019.
  • Sponsors: thank you to all our 2018 sponsors throughout the year. Their contributions help offset costs, offer discounts and provide prizes. We are always looking for new sponsors, so if your company is interested please let us know.

I have been a member for over 20 years (in MN & OH) and value meeting people I would likely never have met and expanding a circle of contacts through golf. Please schedule some time to volunteer with our Chapter 2019.

Travel Opportunity in March with Angie Ause!
Join Angie Ause, LPGA & PGA Member, on a trip of a lifetime to the Inaugural PGA Magazine Women's Leadership Platform Pro-Am being held at Casa de Campo in the Dominican Republic March 2-6, 2019.

The pro-am will consist of one practice round and a two day format of two best balls out of 5; gross and net stableford scoring.  A percentage of your handicap will be used.  Don't miss out on this fantastic opportunity.  Email Angie at ausegolf@pga.com if you would like more information on the trip.
Attention New and Almost New Golfers

Starting January 17, 2019, the PGA Tour Superstore will be presenting a 6 week Get Golf Ready Ladies Program. It will be in a tutorial format including topics like terms, scoring, and etiquette - the parts of golf you don't learn during lessons or on the range.

Our December mid-month update will have the details and sign-up information.  If you're new golf, this will be a great opportunity. This is not just for LPGA Amateur members so you are welcome to invite a friend
