President's Message

Greetings to all members as we finish off the 2019  golf se ason and start planning for 2020.
The LPGA   Amateur Golf   Association continues to implement changes to provide golf opp ortunities for members of all skill levels.

I would like to summarize some of the recent changes announced for the Championship Series and what they mean to our Chapter. We expect the new formats for various competitive events to benefit our local Chapter, as we can focus exclusively on events to meet the needs of our members.

There will also be a new Stableford team event April 17-18 in the Tucson area that will be for 24 and up handicap players. The Scramble Open and The Cup team tournaments remain on the schedule. Please watch for more information in the updates from LPGA HQ.

Championship Series - New Format
Members received an announcement in September about changes in the Championship series. The Local Championship Qualifier (formerly the Chapter Championship) will be eliminated in the series. What does this mean to you? If you choose to compete, the first level of competition will be at a regional event. You have the option of choosing the location and entering the event. These will only be stroke play and we expect to see more people advance (not just 1 st  place net & gross)

What happens to the "Chapter Championship"?
The Chapter Board will be looking at options for an event. This could include stroke and scramble play or another format. We also have the option of calling it a Chapter Championship and providing local awards. If you have suggestions, please provide input to our Board at:  admin@lpgaamateursmnmetro.com
