Students Enjoy
Senior Week Celebration
Members of the class of 2023 hurtled down the ziplines at Camp Kiwi, took peddle boats across a pond, competed at mini golf, and played an intense teachers-versus-students softball game.
It was all part of Senior Week when the Mahopac Central School District and the community celebrate the compassionate, intelligent and capable young adults of the graduating class. The tradition celebrates the many successes of the class before sending them off to their next adventure.

“I’ve known these students since they were freshmen,” teacher Stas Przymylski said, “some of them I’ve known even longer. Some of them were on my kids’ sports teams. The word ‘bittersweet’ is a bit overused, but every year I wonder ‘who could ever possibly fill in their shoes?’”
Senior week sees students enjoying activities every day of the last full week of school. The class of 2023 was treated to everything from a showing of “Pitch Perfect,” to visits to both Camp Kiwi and Six Flags, ultimately culminating in Prom.

“High school has been great, but WISE (a district work experience program) has been such an amazing experience,” senior Kate Hart said. “It's been the best opportunity, I never felt more prepared for something than I did with WISE.”
Hart, who will be attending Arizona State University next year, joined many of her classmates in enjoying some of their final moments as students at Mahopac High School this week. Mahopac High School’s graduation will take place on June 22nd.

Junior Honor Society Induction
With Summer break fast approaching many high school honor society inductions have been taking place, honoring Mahopac High School students for their community service and academic excellence. For every high school student, however, there is a dedicated middle school student finding their way up the grade level ladder exemplifying all of the traits that will one day make them an excellent high school student and member of the Mahopac community. These students were honored at the Junior Honor Society induction ceremony that took place this week.
"MMS has proudly inducted 49 students into our chapter," advisor Kerry Tarantino said. "We are so proud of their amazing accomplishment. These students showed academic excellence, perseverance, and a willingness to work together for a common goal by performing a combined total of over 600 hours of community service this year.

Getting a Taste of American History on
Colonial Day
Lakeview's fourth grade class dressed in their frontier best for a blast from the past last week during Colonial Day. One student even arrived to class wearing a box that looked conspicuously like several at the bottom of Boston Harbor. Students learned all about America's colonial past by making era specific toys, writing, and even planting.
