Next, thankyou to all of those who so generously made Christmas donations. If we were going to Uganda this would be a joyous time of year...we would be taking suitcases with jewelry for the staff, Mardi Gras beads and sunglasses for their goodie bags, and of course, candy for the gift bags. Every girl would be getting a new dress and every boy a new shirt, and what a party the children would have! Because of the pandemic and the flight restrictions around the globe that isn't the case this year. However, every child and every staff member will receive a beautiful new baby blue fleece blanket with either the word "hope" or "faith" written on it. These are from New England Fleece (from whom we bought blankets sever years ago). They are just the right weight for the cool Uganda nights. (Getting them there has been a challenge but that's for another newsletter!)
Now for other news...we have 28 orphans graduating from secondary 4 and the final tests they must take used to be free...now they are charging $125 for these evaluations so we need $3,500 AND our pigs died of swine flu so we need to buy new pigs...they are $50 each. You can buy one or 100, whatever works in your favor!
Here's an idea for a Christmas gift for that person you know who has everything: Buy a pig in their name, we will send them a Certificate of Ownership and ask them to pick a name! With Thanksgiving next week, I ask that you please take time to give thanks for your many blessings. Yes, Covid-19 has put a damper on our activities but don't let it affect your spirit. Continue to look on the bright side and know that this is only temporary. At this time next year, I expect to be in Uganda so I can celebrate Christmas with my children...you might want to join me and discover the real meaning of Christmas!
