Water Mission Walk for Water

On March 25, Water Mission held its annual Walk for Water. Mitch Watford led the St. Michael’s team. Here is what Mitch had to say about the day: “I am blown away and my spirit is so encouraged by the supportive and mobilizing response you showed to my email this morning. I’m filled with immense gratitude and delight in the face of such on-the-spot generosity! In the last handful of hours, we exceeded our goal of $500 and more than doubled what we had raised going into the event today. Overall, Saint Michael’s was able to raise $925 and we had more than a dozen walkers involved (scattered throughout the thousands of participants at today’s event). I’m so humbled and grateful for the way in which The Lord compelled this church and team to pull together in the final hours, incorporating us in a movement which today provided 10,000 lives across the world with life-sustaining water! May The Lord continue to bless each of you so that we may all in turn bless others!”

LPC Banquet

Lowcountry Pregnancy Center held its annual banquet on March 31, 2023. St. Michael’s had a strong turnout with 52 in attendance. The testimonies of clients of LPC were very encouraging. The keynote speaker was Evie West, author of Revolving Choices:  Playing Roulette with Life, who gave a powerful testimony. Please watch the video, which is available for the remainder of April, by clicking the link.

The children through Lemonade for Missions raised $115.75 selling lemonade to support LPC.

Hungering World

KENYA

Samburu-Nkalup Vision

A message from Reverend Julius Gichuru: “God is blessing us with rain,” after many years without it. “We are lacking peace due to the neighboring Pokot tribe. Our governor is attacked when he travels. We pray today that Pura School at the heart of the conflict will open. God have mercy on the unreached tribes.” Rev Julius and Bishop Simon will be in Charleston for a brief visit this July.

BURUNDI

Igniting Communities for Jesus (ICJ), Burundi

Antoine, his wife Evelyne and their five children used to live in this mud hut (please see below) and their children were beggars in the street.

Today, thanks to ICJ, they live in this house (please see below) and their children attend school and Antoine is able to provide them food.

This wonderful story of redemption is told at https://www.greatlakesoutreach.org/a-home-to-call-your-own/. ICJ is one of numerous Christian organizations made possible by Great Lakes Outreach (GLO.) Recently, the founder of GLO, Simon Guillebaud, was in Charleston and spent an evening with the St. Michael’s Mission Task Force.

INDIA

Anglican Church of West Bengal

A message from Bishop Dutta:

St. Michael’s Safe House is a great blessing. It rescues girls from trafficking then provides them with education, food, clothing, shelter and school supplies, including books. There is a great demand for more girls to come here. Under compulsion we recently had to take in three more girls. They are Sohana Munda, Punam Munda and Asha Munda. Now we have 18 girls. We thank St. Michael’s Church for supporting this Safe house. We are praying that we will have funds to build another floor in this building so that more girls can be accommodated.

GLOBAL IMPACT CELEBRATION (GIC)

Here is a quick update on the growing GIC 2024 team and our work to date:

Ruth and I, along with Christen and David Reese, met with Dee Goehring to discuss how best to have the church children involved in GIC. We have a few follow up actions relative to that meeting that we should have resolved during the next few weeks. That said, we remain on schedule for a formal announcement of GIC 2024 on May 28th — with the intent of issuing a preliminary calendar (on May 28th) of GIC 2024 Week.

Also, we can report that Christen and David have agreed to lead the banquet organization

The theme for GIC 2024 is “Continuing Our Father’s Work,” which is derived from John 5:17.

Blessings,

Bob and Ruth Bonelli
