School Supplies Drive

St. Michael’s collected supplies for our two school mission partners during July. Through the congregations’ generous donations, we were able to supply composition books, spiral notebooks, pencils, pens, crayons, glue, markers, scissors and other supplies to help start the new school year.

A group from St. Michael’s served at the Hot Dog Ministry on July 18 at the Citadel Square Baptist Church parking lot. Pat Jennings reported:

We served 70-75 people. We had eight volunteers from St. Michael’s serving fried chicken, green beans, potato salad plus rolls, desserts, fruit and water. When they arrived, the guests were given popsicles to cool down before hearing David Richardson give a homily before asking grace. In the middle of David’s homily, the bells at Mother Emmanuel began playing Amazing Grace; David simply raised his voice and finished. Everyone kept paying attention throughout.

The next Hot Dog Ministry will be on Halloween, October 31, 2023. To learn how you may participate, please contact Pat Jennings at Bellinger.56@att.net.

Dandelion Ministries held its inaugural song writing retreat this past July. It was attended by professional musicians and worship leaders from across the Anglican Diocese of New England. The Revs. Sean and Kate Norris hosted the group in their home and arts workshop with the end goal of writing a worship music song … and they succeeded!

Kate and Sean will also play a very visible role in our upcoming GIC Mission Celebration to be held Jan. 2024 at St. Michael’s Anglican Church.

BURUNDI

From July 30 to August 12, GLO conducted its 18th Summer Outreach, often referred to as the 29th chapter of the Acts of the Apostles. This year, 1506 “firebrands” came alongside 90 churches and witnessed “all kinds of miracles,” including the restoration of sight, hearing, speech and song to Agnes. After losing those faculties seven years ago, “Agnes is now a turbo-charges evangelist sharing her story far and wide, including on radio, for all to hear.”
