Rise Church in Portland, Maine

Adult ALPHA is underway at 6:00 p.m. on Monday evenings at Bunker Brewing, near the church, and is very well attended. It’s a casual setting where attendees feel free to ask questions, have dinner, listen to the presentation and share their thoughts with one another. This is a fine example of your mission donations hard at work.

New Wineskins

The Hope for the Nations conference Sept. 17-20 was a huge success. More than 130 members of the ADOSC attended. Twenty-nine of those were from St. Michael’s. Daniel Booman, 11-year-old son of the Rev. David and Caitie Booman (former St. Michaelite clergy and staff) preached at the final plenary, just before ADNA Archbishop Steve Wood spoke.

To hear both of their sermons please go to the link below. Daniel’s talk starts around 1 minute 19 seconds into the video.

ADNE Anglican Diocese of New England

Lexington, Maine

The 2025 ADNE Reawakening Conference will be held Oct. 17-18 at Grace Chapel in Lexington, ME. This years’ theme is “The power of the promise-unbreakable hope for a divided and broken world.”

Bishop Drew of ADNE has also been asked to chair the ACNA Music Task Force for our province. The goal is to create “a worship site that provides lectionary and seasonally-related worship music in multiple formates” that can be used by a single worship leader as well as serve large church needs.

The Revs. Kate and Sean Norris played an integral role at the recent Hope For The Nations conference held by New Wineskins. One example of Kate’s ministry was the creation of a large painting of Christ’s nail scarred hand and arm. In her own words, she “wanted to convey our rescue by Jesus Christ as well as his promise to never let us go. Jesus’ hand is the larger hand, bearing the nail mark, and lifting the smaller hand, our hand, out of darkness. He is the life of every Christian and the hope for all nations.”

Kate and Sean also utilized their art and music ministry at the ADNE Reawakening conference which was held October 17-18, 2025.

In Bangkok’s Rakteh slum, where prostitution is the dominant business, Pastor Claire Sullivan is ministering to its victims, praying with and bringing the love of Jesus to them in multiple places and ways: including the Rakteh Womens Ministry to Female Sex-workers, the True Love True Beauty Salon, the Palm Center, and the Thomburi Deaf Church.  See the photo below of a Bible study led by Pastor Claire, who also provided the food.

On September 6, the St. Michael’s Eye clinic organized a one-day eye testing camp for the village of Kalikapur. Seventy-five people from the village came to test their eyes on the state-of-the-art machines free of charge.

Hyer Family

Cebu City, Philippines

On 9/30, a magnitude 6.9 earthquake shook Cebu for 30 seconds, killing 74, injuring 559 and displacing 80,000. Fortunately, for the Hyer family, none of its members were indoors or injured. Since then there have been aftershocks ranging in magnitude from 1 to 5.1, one of which lasted 30-40 seconds. As Cebu recovers plans are being made to expand the Living Water project to more communities in need of reliable supplies of water. On August 8, the first Living Water project was dedicated and launched and is now providing the Gilutongan Island community with fresh water from the mainland via boats.
