Charleston Classic School and Hope Scholars Academy

The supplies have been delivered! Thank you, thank you to all who gave generously to the school supply drive for Charleston Classical School and Hope Scholars Academy during the month of August.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes

Will Kendrick, the collegiate director of the College of Charleston Fellowship of Christian Athletes, reports that 98 student athletes and others are participating in various group Bible studies this fall. He is excited to share how the Lord is working on the campus at C of C. He says, “One of our student leaders, Hallie brought 17 out of the 18 new softball players with her to church! Pray that seeds would be planted and that any of those girls who do not know the Lord would come to know Him. You can also pray for Hallie as she is bearing witness to them.”

Hot Dog Ministry

The Hot Dog Ministry will serve a meal to those in need at Morris Brown AME Church at 13 Morris St. on Tuesday, October 29 at 5:00 p.m. Pat Jennings leads a team from St. Michael’s to provide a hot dinner. A short scriptural message and blessing is given before serving and visiting with the guests. For more information or to volunteer, please contact Pat Jennings at Bellinger.56@att.net

The Holy City Committee and Mission Task Force are hosting a supper for the Citadel cadets attending chapel service at St. Alban’s Chapel, one of our mission partners, on September 30^th.

Here’s how you may help:

Bake cookies and drop them off at the church by 3 p.m. on September 30^th.
Help Make BBQ Sandwiches in the church kitchen on September 30th from 3:30-5 pm.
Help serve supper and visit with the cadets at St. Alban's Chapel at 5:15 pm.

The chapel service starts at 6 p.m. and will be led by the Rev. Rob Sturdy with music provided by volunteers and cadets. Everyone is welcome to attend.

New Wineskins

New Wineskins, Greensboro, N.C. (led by Jenny Noyes) will commission their first class of role call apprentices Sept. 2025. This group of young adults will each spend nine months in the overseas mission field under the oversight of an established missionary. This is a new program that New Wineskins has begun to teach and equip young adults for world mission. This is the fruit of their International Apprenticeship program. Thanks to the parishioners of St. Michaels, $3,000 was recently sent as support for this Mission Task Force approved project.

RISE Anglican Church

RISE Anglican Church, Portland, Me. (the Rev. Dan Wolf) reported that a mission group from Church of 1122, Jacksonville, Fl. came the first week of August and helped to do more work on the construction projects that our St. Michael’s mission team began in July. RISE is planning to have a plumber and electrician finish the project. Church of 1122 also helped lead the first full VBS at RISE Church.

The Anglican Diocese of New England

The Anglican Diocese of New England (led by Bishop Drew Williams) had a regional Reawakening Conference in Bangor, Me. with the parishioners of Imago Dei Anglican Church. It was a weekend of art projects led by the Rev. Kate Norris of Dandelion Ministries, local neighborhood cleanup and ministering to people on the streets along with worship services and, of course, a huge feast of lobster together. Please read about their efforts to reawaken people’s hearts and spirits with God’s love.

Several regional reawaken conferences have taken place throughout the year, and once a year the diocese has a statewide conference, which is scheduled for Oct. 16-18 in Newburyport, Me. Some of the fruits of the conferences have been an overall increase in church attendance, increase in confirmations and baptisms. Thanks to the parishioners of St. Michaels, $5,000 has been in sent 2024 as support for the Annual Reawakening Conference to be held in October. Click here for more info.

Philippines

Burundi, Great Lakes Outreach

Here is a recent story sent to us from Burundi.

Our founder Simon Guillebaud had an exhilarating start to his recent visit to Burundi. Before getting to the rallies, one of his team members reported that a 17-year-old named Aristide from Cibitoke was pronounced dead by the doctor, who withdrew the drip and covered his body with a sheet. The mother started weeping hysterically, and her cries drew the attention of our team nearby. One of them came rushing in and felt led to claim his life back from the dead. After praying over the corpse, Aristide started breathing again, and he and his mother promptly gave their lives to the Lord, along with another 41 people who witnessed or heard about what happened.

While visiting a rally in Kirusi run by United Citizens for Change and Development and alongside U.S. board member Lacey Faieta, they had the chance to offer Christian witness to the hundreds of locals who came to the rally. This was a chance to preach the gospel, pray for the sick and encourage the local church.

Another sight we usually do not see in Western nations is many hundreds of people dancing in the rain. In the photo below from Simon, you will see the party atmosphere of praise that erupted. What an inspiration to witness the poorest of the poor worshipping with such joyful hearts! Simon reflected: We could learn a thing or two from our Burundian brothers and sisters about joy in worship (even in the rain!), SO GOOD to be back in the action, and some beautiful miracles accompanied the preaching of the word!

The weekend was not without its challenges. For example, as Simon approached the end of his message, a woman named Teresa (please see photo below after the deliverance) who was watching became extremely agitated and threw both of her shoes at him. The team from UCCD responded well, taking her aside and praying with her, bringing hope and deliverance as she confronted her demons. The moment Teresa actually threw her shoes, and then an interview after her deliverance a few days later showed her deliverance was real and she was sleeping well describing be freed from demons.

It was a hugely encouraging time with several hundred people making a commitment of faith and many miraculous stories too. One story was shared of a man who had a swollen leg and struggled to walk which was instantly healed, which he enthusiastically demonstrated to be back in working order before all the crowd as he testified.

These rallies are a cornerstone of the ministry of UCCD, they run them in different parts of Burundi each week, often lasting multiple days. Alongside the evangelistic messages and praise, they will show the Jesus film, dubbed with Kirundi on a huge sheet using the generator and projector provided with GLO funds. People in rural Burundi may have never seen a film on anything larger than a mobile phone so they will often walk many miles to see the phenomenon.

Water Builds® Relief and is a way to show God’s love for those in need.

Today, let’s lift up our brothers and sisters who are currently experiencing loss due to disaster, that they might pass through this trial with steadfast faith. May they feel God’s love through the provision of safe water and may our collective witness reveal our Heavenly Father’s grace to the world.

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you ...” — Isaiah 43:2a

Please pray with us!

Pray for Water Mission water, sanitation, and hygiene promoters in communities around the world. Ask God to provide an openness among community members to learn and adopt new ways of living that promote good health and hygiene. Give praise for all who serve with the Water Mission National Volunteer Ministry to fight the global water crisis. Thank God for every person who gives of their time, skills, resources, and influence to bring safe water to those in need.

Pray for the 65 Living Water activities in seven countries throughout this month. Ask God to open hearts and make the message of His love and salvation clear to all who hear it.

Pray for those who have suffered loss due to disasters, regional conflict, and lack of safe water. Pray that God would bring them peace, provide them access to safe water and meet their daily needs.
