Hog Dog Ministry

Pat Jennings, the coordinator for the Hot Dog Ministry, reports: “After the flooding subsided in downtown, the Mission Team from St. Michael’s was able to serve 65 hungry people fried chicken, green beans, potato salad, rolls, desserts and iced tea. We appreciate Morris Brown AME Church for allowing us inside their Fellowship Hall to serve. Our St. Michael’s volunteers that night were Lisa and David Floyd, Caroline Farrior, Sonya O’Malley and me.”

The next Hot Dog Ministry will be on November 4 at Morris Brown AME Chruch.

Families with middle and high school aged children are encouraged to serve. To volunteer or get information please contact Pat Jennings at Bellinger.56@att.net.

Water Mission

In May 2025, St. Michael’s gave a $5000 grant to Water Mission for their Living Water Program in Malawi. Parker Toney, partnerships director at Water Mission, sent information on exactly how the funds were used and the impact of our grant on the pastors of Malawi.

The Living Water Program has two main goals:   “evangelism in the communities where we implement safe water projects and discipleship of local pastors. Your gift was specifically used to disciple pastors in a community in Malawi called Chimwenje. When we start implementing safe water in a community, we then invite pastors/elders/deacons/leaders to join our Church and Community Mobilization Program (CCMP). Once the program is completed, our Living Water officers will stay in contact with the leaders as a resource and may come back to the community once or twice in the following year if there are additional spiritual needs, but the ultimate goals are to strengthen the local church to be able to stand on its own without external guidance.” The program in Chimwenje trained and equipped 30 church leaders.

Here is one story shared by Pastor Dickens Mchoma in Chimwenje:

After completing the first half of the Living Water training (CCMP) by Water Mission, my life has completely changed:  My knowledge of the word of God has tremendously advanced, and my ability to lead others has improved, too. With the CCMP training, now I relate well with church leaders from denominations different from mine. I have also developed a mindset change regarding illnesses. Before the CCMP training, I used to believe that every disease is caused by demons, but now I know that unhygienic practices are a cause of numerous diseases. At the community level, I mobilized my fellow church leaders and successfully addressed leadership wrangles among chiefs, which were affecting the drinking of safe water. Du

ring this exercise, the word of God was preached and six people received Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

Anglican Church of West Bengal - India

Namrata Surin, pictured above, is a tribal girl from the village of Mustapur. Tribal families do not prefer girls as they consider them burdens to the family in the future. To get rid of her, Namrata’s parents sent her to work for a wealthy family. Namrata had to get up early, make tea and clean the house. Slowly she became weak, and her health suffered.

In this wealthy family there was a small girl of the same age as Namrata. The girl went to school and slowly she became friendly with Namrata. When this girl would do her studies, Namrata would also listen to her. She told her mother that Namrata could also go to school with her. But Namrata did not have any foundation of studies. One day this wealthy family came to know of St. Michael’s Safe House and put Namrata there for her studies. The Safe House committee accepted her. Now she is in class 6 and staying there. The kind wealthy family and the St. Michael’s Safe House have helped to change her life.

Pastor Claire Sullivan writes, “Our Rakteh Women’s Drop-in-Center is open every Friday from 1:00 to 5:00 pm for those women who live in our slum. We don’t have a large space but this Friday we had 48 women packed in. We kind of like that.”

As we close in on the four-month countdown to the GIC, we are excitedly building out the full week, which will be anchored by Carlos Campo, Jack Easterby and Dan Wolfe. We are currently inviting mission partners from the Hungering World, Hurting Coast and Holy City to join our celebration and building out activities that feature their ministries — and how they use their gifts for mission. We cannot wait to announce our confirmed partners, as well as the events we have planned. At the same time, we are rounding out our GIC team with captains and chairs for all aspects of the week. Please let us know if you would like to be a part of it; there is a job for everyone.

We are also in the beginning phases of putting together the auction. If you feel called to help or donate an item or have a contact for us to track down, please let us know. This is a great way to use your gifts for mission! Artwork, experiences, lessons, vacation homes, we welcome it all!

Please pray for us as we prepare for this celebration, and if you have any questions or ideas or would like to be involved, do not hesitate to reach out (803) 968-3360.

 Best,

Mary Mac and Cooper Wilson
