Greetings Ospreys,

The school year is rapidly drawing to a close, and this week has been chock full of many beautiful moments, as we turn our attention to reflection, gratitude and celebration. The juniors had a sweet camping trip in Bears Ears National Monument, seniors wrapped up their TED Talks and we celebrated them in style at both the final NEST Meeting and Senior Supper, and we wrapped up this morning by all playing together at Advisory Olympics.

Graduation is TODAY at 4pm at the Community Concert Hall. There will be seating available for those without tickets in the back of the Plaza section and the entire Balcony section. All are welcome to attend!

The ceremony will be live streamed so those who cannot attend in person can view graduation online at https://vimeo.com/event/3408763.

If that link is not working for any reason, you can also view the ceremony online via the Community Concert Hall webpage dedicated to our event; that link is here.

Transitional Presentations of Learning (TPOLs) Next Week

On Monday and Tuesday, all 9th, 10th and 11th grade students will meet with their core grade-level teachers for full days of TPOL preparation. Students are expected to attend from 8:20 to 3:35, as usual, on Monday and Tuesday. TPOLs begin Wednesday and individual student schedules will vary Wednesday through the following Tuesday. Students are only required to come to school from Wednesday on when they are presenting or paneling for others. See grade-level TPOL schedules for individual student schedules:

View full information about TPOLS for reminders about format and expectations for each grade. The Hub Bus between DHS and AHS WILL run Monday. May 22 through Thursday, May 25, but NOT Friday, May 26 or Tuesday, May 30. We WILL offer catered lunch May 22-23, but will NOT offer it Wednesday, May 24 through Friday, May 26 or Tuesday, May 30.

The last day of the school year is Tuesday, May 30.

2023/24 Student Schedules

New and returning students should continue to peruse the 2023/24 Course Catalog in preparation for course requests, which will begin on Monday as outlined in the Course Catalog Release Letter. Erin Cummins-Roper will host an Online Academic Advising Session for New Students and Families on Monday May 22 at 5:30pm, providing support with making smart choices around electives and supporting families with the process of making course requests in Infinite Campus. Current 9th, 10th and 11th grade students will receive this support in person that day at school. It's not too late to sign up for concurrent enrollment for the fall! Reach out to Erin at collegeandcareer@animashighschool.com for more information.

AHS Summer School

For math or science credit recovery, students can attend a two-week program at AHS. June 20-30, an instructor from Pueblo Community College will be on site Monday through Thursdays 9am to 3pm and Fridays 9am to noon to teach an Advanced Manufacturing course that will include CAD (Autodesk Fusion 360), Intro to 3D Printing, Intro to CNC and Intro to Robotics. Space is limited; contact rebecca.ruland@animashighschool.com if interested. Students who need language arts or social studies credit recovery will need to pursue an online option. Reach out to Rebecca for more information.

Best of luck to the AHS rocketry team, the CloudBusters, who will compete at the American Rocketry Challenge in the Washington DC area tomorrow! Learn more about the competition and their journey to nationals in today's front page story in the Durango Herald, "Durango rocket club aims for the sky in national competition."

Finally, we'd love all current families to please complete the Annual AHS Parent/Caregiver Survey by next Friday, May 26. Thank you for your feedback--we appreciate it!

Congratulations to the AHS class of 2023! Have a great weekend and thanks for all you do to help the Ospreys soar!
