Eight Individuals & One Team Inducted into Athletic Hall of Fame

The 2026 Athletic Hall of Fame class included eight individuals and the 2015 National Championship Volleyball team. During a ceremony on Saturday, September 5, the Athletic Department inducted the following into the Hall of Fame: Amber Ellison '03, women's basketball; Ricky Yahn '07, men's basketball; LaKisha Jones '05, softball; Kasey Frazier '16, women's golf; Pete Malcolm '16, men's rugby; Carmen Blissit '04, cross country and track; Chris Spencer '05, cross country and track; Denny Grimm, former director of transportation (Special Contributor); and the 2015 NCAA D-II National Championship Volleyball Team.

Ryan Lovell, J.D. Named Chief Academic Officer

Wheeling University has an experienced educational professional, Dr. Ryan Lovell, serving as its Chief Academic Officer.

Dr. Lovell works with the academic department chairs and program leads to ensure high-quality academic programing, while providing vision for the direction, creation, and revision of academic programs.

Additionally, Dr. Lovell oversees Bishop Hodges Library, the Office of the Registrar, the Student Success Center, and Disability Services.

Alumni and their families from the greater Washington, D.C. area attended a social at Starr Hill Biergarten in Tysons Corner, Virginia. Alumni got the chance to meet and talk with other alumni. There were alumni from the 1960s through the 2000s at the event. The gathering was organized by Alumni Council President Jake Lucas, class of 2012.

Wheeling University Student Mallory Bozovich Finding

Success on Stage

After years of writing songs and performing on stage, Wheeling University Junior Mallory Bozovich is receiving regional and national recognition.

Nationally, she has been nominated for two awards that honor independent music artists. And, closer to home, Bozovich will open for a pop artist performing in Pittsburgh in October.
