Alumna Sara Johnson Named President-Elect

Sara L. Johnson, Ed.D, MAEd, BS, CNMT, NMTCB(RS), RT(N)(CT)(ARRT), FSNMMI-TS, has been named president-elect of the SNMMI Technologist Section (SNMMI-TS). Johnson, a member of the class of 2002, is a PET/CT technologist at Florida Cancer Specialists in Brandon, Florida, and a didactic instructor at Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts. SNMMI introduced its 2026-27 officers at its annual meeting.

Wheeling University announced that Alumni Weekend 2027 will be held June 11-13, 2027. This year, anniversary classes are: 1962; 1967; 1972; 1977 (50th Anniversary); 1982; 1987; 1992; 1997; 2002 (25th Anniversary); 2007; 2012; 2017 (10th Anniversary); and 2022. Special events will be held for the 50th, 25th, and 10th anniversary classes. A full schedule of events will be released in the Spring of 2027.

Nominations for the 2027 St. Ignatius Loyola Distinguished Alumni Award, Pedro Arrupe Distinguished Alumni Award, Fr Clifford Lewis Award, the Magis Award, and the Fr. James O'Brien Award are now open. Email nominations to alumni@wheeling.edu. Click here to view the criteria for the awards.

Father David Marks 50 Anniversary of Ordination

Father David R. Griffin, O.S.B., Director of Campus Ministry at Wheeling University, celebrated the 50th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood during a Mass on July 9 at St. Vincent Archabbey in Latrobe, Pennsylvania.

Father David joined the Wheeling University in the Summer of 2024. In addition to being Director of Campus Ministry, he is the Director of the Father James A. O’Brien, S.J. Center for Service. Since arriving at Wheeling, Father David has immersed himself in all aspects of the University’s culture.

Board Chair Sends Giving Appeal Letter to Alumni

Mr. David Hendrickson, chairman of the Wheeling University Board of Trustees, informed members of the Alumni Council on July 11 that he has sent a letter to alumni asking for support for Wheeling University as we prepare for the upcoming academic year.
