Thank you for supporting the 2026 Cardinal Day of Giving. A total of 1,648 individuals made gifts totaling $361,382. All gifts will support scholarships, academic programs, campus ministry, athletic programs, and general operations at Wheeling University. 

Please know that our faculty, staff, and students continue to work hard to make you proud of your alma mater. I see daily their commitment to our mission of life, leadership, and service with and among others.

Alumnus Ricky Yahn, was named the head coach of the Villa Maria College on March 30. He is a 2007 graduate of Wheeling University and was a member of the men's basketball team. During his time on the team, Yahn scored more than 1,400 points and ranks as 14th in scoring for the Cardinals.

Following graduation, Yahn played professionally in England and Buffalo.

Student Spotlight: Curtis Harrison, IV

Curtis Harrison, IV, a senior and member of the men's basketball team, embodies the Wheeling University mission. In addition to excelling in the classroom and on the court, Harrison lives a life

of service, launching his own non-profit, Sole Bros, Inc. For the past two season, he has collected gently worn and new shoes to help those in need. In all, the Wheeling University community has donated more than 250 pairs of shoes to support his charity.

Faculty Spotlight: Zachary Dehm, Ph.D.

Wheeling University has hired Zachary Dehm, Ph.D., to lead the Theology Program with the goal of accompanying students in their faith and inviting them to consider life’s most compelling spiritual and theological questions. “Theology is an essential part of a Catholic, liberal arts education. As a discipline, I believe it can help our students grow as critical thinkers whether or not they are Catholic … It helps students grow into people of action and responsible citizenship,” he said.
