Greetings Ospreys,
Many thanks to all who made it to
El Moro this week to support our school! We were glad to see Peak Food & Beverage, parent company to El Moro, Steamworks and Bird's, named
Business of the Year at last night's
Durango Rocks event, sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce. The generosity of local businesses such as Peak helps our community thrive, and we're grateful for their support.
The latest edition of
The Quil
l, our student newspaper, has hit the newsstands around town this week, inserted into
The Durango Telegraph
. Pick up a print copy, or check out all the student journalists' work
here.
Join the class of 2021 on Thursday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 in the AHS Commons for the
Chemistry of Single-Use Materials Exhibition, where they will present an immersive experience that will help
attendees learn about common single-use materials that pass through our lives: paper, aluminum, steel, plastic and organic waste. Student projects will educate the audience on how these materials are created from raw ingredients, how these materials are sorted at recycling facilities and what the final "fate" of these materials are.
For families who weren't able to attend Jess Morrison's
Junior College Night this past week, please be sure to have a look at her presentation
here to keep up to date with all the college counseling support juniors are receiving this year in their sessions with Jess. It's no wonder that one parent reached out the morning after Jess' parent workshop to share what an "amazing asset" she is to our school!
Fees for
Osprey Week,
which have been entered into Infinite Campus, are due in full next Wednesday, January 22.
Students will meet in their Osprey Week groups one more time, during Advisory on February 19, and we'll share detailed itineraries at that time.
Finally, remember, we have no school on Monday, in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
Enjoy the long weekend and thanks for all you do to help the Ospreys soar!
