Sophomores in Shane Nelson's Humanities classes met veteran, naturalist, writer and film maker Doug Peacock this afternoon to enrich their study of Ed Abbey's classic Southwestern novel
The Monkey Wrench Gang
. Abbey's character George Hayduke was modeled after Peacock, who is in town for the
Durango Independent Film Festival
. The students appreciated this unique opportunity to speak with Peacock and they had thoughtful, excellent questions for him.

Career Exploration Day
on Wednesday morning, visiting professional sites in STEM, design and information technology fields. The week after next is
Sophomore Inspire Week
, where students will focus on career and college readiness during their core classes and engage in community projects with local nonprofits.
Students will meet in their
groups Wednesday during Advisory and we will send a letter out that same day that will include all Osprey Week itineraries, packing lists, meeting locations, etc. Please note that Wednesday is the deadline for all medications to be turned in to the main office. Osprey Week is March 18 through 22.

Juniors who have not yet confirmed LINK Internships or are struggling academically will also be required to complete an SLC; these will be scheduled with Steve Smith and students are responsible for communicating SLC time to parents.
