Greetings Ospreys,
You may have noticed a new face around campus lately, as Tamerin Horstman has recently joined our Inclusion Department in the role of Academic Coach. AHS prides itself on inclusivity of perspectives, backgrounds and abilities and our educators in this department work to support students in both academic and personal development. With her wealth of experience and her strong convictions that " all students deserve an excellent education, one that encourages them to learn, thrive and grow," Tamerin is thrilled to "support and empower students to discover their unique potential, experience academic success and purpose and pursue their life dreams." Please be sure to say hello when you see our newest Osprey!
Students and their families are invited to the
Concurrent Enrollment Information Night
Monday from 5:30 to 6:30. Jess Morrison will be joined by folks from Fort Lewis College to share information about how concurrent enrollment works, why students may want to consider it and what the process is to register for concurrent enrollment classes at area colleges in order to receive both high school and college credit. As a reminder, AHS students are also able to receive concurrent enrollment credit for some classes offered on our campus, including Consumer Math and Astronomy electives, both being offered second semester of this year.
The
AHS Fall Blood Drive is
Tuesday, November 19 from 11:00 to 4:00, and we would love to see every donor spot filled. Those who are under 18 must complete a
Parent/Guardian Consent Form to donate blood.
Sign up online here to reserve your spot as there are just a few left. Students, parents, staff and community members are all welcome to participate.
In this time of giving thanks, we will have a
Gratitude Feast during Advisory on Wednesday and
students are encouraged to bring desserts to share. Students in the Music Performance elective classes will perform and all parents are welcome to attend, from 12:45 to 1:35 in the Commons. We have so much to be grateful for as a school community!
The
AHS Board of Directors meets
Wednesday evening 5:30 to 7:30. To keep up to date with the Board's work, visit the AHS website, where agendas and minutes are posted regularly. We are thrilled to announce that Sarah Anthony, AHS class of 2015 has recently joined the AHS Board. Sarah plans to focus her energy on alumni relations and we are so grateful to have her unique and valuable perspective, as a former student, guiding our work.
Enjoy the weekend and thanks for all you do to help the Ospreys soar!
