Greetings Ospreys,
Due to our cold and rainy weather, we have cancelled this evening's
AHS Potluck in the Park
. We'll schedule a family picnic for sometime over the summer so that we can gather together and welcome our new families. Our apologies for any inconvenience.
With just two weeks left until graduation and three weeks until the final day of school, we are focused on supporting students as they wrap up the year. Please refer to the
letter to families we sent out yesterday for all the details about special schedules, events, etc.
Next week is the final week of regular classes of the year, as we begin preparation for Transitional Presentations of Learning on Monday, May 20. Juniors return from their
LINK Internships Monday morning and we are excited to hear about their experiences, which they will share at All School Exhibition. On Wednesday morning, we will do a full run through from 9:00 to noon so students can work out any kinks and be prepared to present polished, professional work the next day. Students will check in with their advisory group when they arrive at school Wednesday morning, and they will have Advisory after lunch, followed by the final XBlock class of the year. Please be sure to join us for
All School Exhibition on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00, where students from all grade levels will share their learning across academic disciplines in a wide variety of interactive ways.
Seniors are in the final stages of their Senior Projects, which they will exhibit at
Senior Celebration on Tuesday, May 21, 5:00 to 7:30 at the Powerhouse Science Center. Lydia Blaisdell decided to wait until after she completed a solo backpacking trip to deliver her
Senior Project TED Talk about women in outdoor recreation, so that she could incorporate her experience into her presentation. Join her at Pine Needle Mountaineering in downtown Durango Wednesday evening at 6:00.
Look for students, teachers and parents staffing an AHS booth at the
Durango Farmers' Market this summer, starting with the first of the season tomorrow. Stop by while you're shopping for locally-grown and crafted food to say hello and let folks know what you love about AHS!
Enjoy the weekend and thanks for all you do to help the Ospreys soar!
