Greetings Ospreys,

As our semester draws to a close and we prepare to transition to Winter Break, we want to share our heart filled gratitude for our students, teachers, staff and families. This has been a challenging week for our school community, with the death of one of our students last weekend, but it has also been filled with love, support, grace, generosity and resiliency. Our hearts are with the family, friends and loved ones of the student we have lost. Thank you to all who have reached out to us--and there have been many!--to share your condolences and appreciations. Messages like the one below, from a 9th grade parent, have buoyed us in this difficult time.

There are no words for the tragic loss the community is feeling. The thing that I keep going back to in my head is how in such a terrible time that I am so thankful that these students have you all as such an amazing support system for them. As much as I am sure you are all hurting and grieving I know that you are still going above and beyond to help all of these students through such a challenging time and I just wanted to let you know how much our family truly appreciates it. I am so thankful that [our student] chose to go to Animas and has you all in her life.
Thank you, too, to all the parents who banded together to create a special Staff Appreciation Luncheon for us this afternoon. Our teachers were so grateful to be nourished and cared for in this sweet, sweet way.

Students have completed Presentations of Learning and teachers are finalizing 1st semester grades. Please note that we do not send out report cards. To view final grades for the semester, log in to Infinite Campus. Report cards are visible on the Documents tab and all students' final grades should be posted no later than Monday, December 20.

Second semester begins on Tuesday, January 4. The add/drop form is now open for students who would like to request changes in 2nd semester electives. Students will begin 3rd quarter XBlock classes on Wednesday, January 5. We look forward to welcoming a handful of transfer students and their families to the Nest in January.

Please be sure to rest, relax, connect, play and do whatever fills you with joy over the Winter Break. Happy holidays to all our Osprey families and we will see you in the New Year!
