Thank you to those who have already donated to our
Project Merry Christmas Holiday Gift Drive
! We are hoping to brighten the holiday season for two local families who could use a helping hand by gathering toys, clothing and food for them. Our donation box in the Main Office isn't very full yet...and we have just one week to pull together as an AHS community and collect the items on these families' wish lists.
to see which items we're still hoping to collect.
Student Council is hosting the
Osprey Holiday Party
next Friday, 6:30 to 8:30
, where we'll wrap all the presents so they can be delivered to the two families and we would love to make sure our "sleigh" is full!
TONIGHT from 4:00 to 6:00
The Good Fight
gym in the Main Mall, where students in Roxy McKnight's
Advanced Digital Arts
elective will host a
Holiday Market Exhibition
showcasing their original artwork, which will be available for purchase. One-of-a-kind artwork makes a great gift for the holidays--make this exhibition a stop in your Noel Night wanderings! Look for the
AHS Student Ambassadors
in front of the Main Mall, where they'll be directing folks to the Digital Art exhibition while helping gather information about how much folks in our community know about our school.
Thursday, December 12 from 5:00 to 7:00 at Durango Coffee Company
, the class of 2023 presents the
9th Grade Mask Exhibition: Cycles
. Join them as they present their handcrafted masks and personal essays reflecting what they've learned about the powerful forces of socialization on identity formation in their Humanities studies this semester. Read more about the Mask Project, a true Osprey rite of passage,
Next week is the final week of regularly scheduled classes before we transition fully into
Presentations of Learning
to close out the first semester. Expectations around POLs vary by grade level, including attendance requirements for the week of December 16 through 20. Please be sure to review all of the POL information
and reach out to assistant head of school Libby Cowles with any clarifying questions you might have. We will not be sending out December grade-level parent letters, but all the information you need about POLs at each grade level can be found in the links above.
In case you didn't pick up a paper copy of the
last week to catch the relaunch of the
, you can read that inaugural issue
. We are so happy about our new partnership with Durango's outstanding independent weekly newspaper and feel like our student newspaper has found the perfect home!
We'll be sending out a sign up for the
Staff Appreciation Lunch
to all our parents on Monday. Thank you to the Osprey parents--Mary and Matt Jones, Becca James, Margery Poitras, Jodi Earley, Debbie Smith and Simone Crouchelli--who have been collaborating to create an event on
Friday December 20
that will show our teachers and staff how appreciated they truly are for all the work they do to support young adults in our community.
Please have a look at the sign up and jump in to prepare food, set up and decorate, serve lunch or contribute a small amount toward staff gifts.
Enjoy your weekend and thanks for all you do to help the Ospreys soar!
