Greetings Ospreys,
We are thrilled to announce the arrival of Britt's baby, Asher Kailani Blasdell! In a beautiful example of synchronicity, junior Sydney Beekman is doing her
LINK Internship at the Mercy Family Birth Center and she and her mom, Tina, have already met Asher. We are so happy for Britt and her husband Ryan and we warmly welcome the youngest Osprey into our community!
While this may be the best internship story so far this year, we are hearing good things about juniors across the board as they explore a wide variety of professional fields. Be sure to visit the
AHS Facebook page for photos and updates in the remaining two weeks of LINK.
Please join us for the
AHS Space Settlement Film Festival Wednesday from 4:30 to 6:30 at the Animas City Theatre. Using what they've learned in Physics and Digital Art, along with their insights from their field study at
Biosphere 2 in Arizona, the class of 2022 has created movies exploring what might be possible in terms of humans living in space. Doors open at 4:15 and the screening will be followed by a panel with the film makers.
As it gets warmer and you're in spring cleaning mode, please consider donating to the
AHS Rotary Interact Club Coat Drive for Shanta Foundation. Durango-based nonprofit Shanta partners with villages in Myanmar to build sustainable programs in health, education, leadership, livelihood and infrastructure. We are collecting clean, warm coats, size 4T through youth 12, which Shanta volunteers will bring to Myanmar. Please drop off your donations in the AHS Main Office by Friday, May 17.
Thank you so much to all those who helped make the
AHS Prom a great success last Friday. The students looked beautiful and the dance floor was packed the whole evening, thanks to senior DJ Ryan Colley. We appreciate all the food donations and prizes from local busines
s
es Mild to Wild, Ken and Sue's, Trimble Hot Springs, 4CRS Riversports, Mountain Waters Rafting, Conundrum Escape Room, Gardenswartz Sporting Goods, Lively Boutique and Grassburger
. Thank you to Osprey parent Marla Stills for organizing the prize drawing, to the Durango Elks Lodge for providing such a great venue and staff and to all our students on the prom committee, led by senior Amaya Holliday, for their hard work!
Finally, please note that we have a four-day week next week; there are no classes next Friday, May 3 as we have a professional development day for staff.
Enjoy the weekend and thanks for all you do to help the Ospreys soar!
