Greetings Ospreys,
With classes now in full swing, we are feeling grateful for a smooth, positive start to the school year. We've welcomed our newest Ospreys aboard, including the AHS Class of 2023, plus ten new sophomores and twelve new juniors, four of whom are foreign exchange students. Seniors hiked into the warm embrace of our staff early Wednesday morning at Senior Sunrise and all the other classes enjoyed a day at the lake on Tuesday. Building community through orientation activities has created a strong foundation for the year, and our students and teachers are ready to dive into their academic work. Visit the AHS Facebook page
here to see photos from the week.
XBlock classes begin Wednesday--please be sure students come to school ready with whatever they need to jump right in. We are in the process of placing students in the classes they've requested and will have rosters ready early next week. Dusty will email students when XBlock classes have been entered in Infinite Campus. Remember, many classes take place off campus, and students are released at 3:30 on Wednesdays from wherever their XBlock meets.
Seniors and their families should plan to attend
Senior College Night Wednesday 5:30-7:30, where
AHS College Counselor Jess Morrison will share valuable insights and information about various types of college applications, how to refine a college list, applying for financial aid, navigating deadlines, testing and more. Jess is an amazing resource for our students and we encourage you all to refer to her
digital portfolio throughout all four years of high school to demystify the college selection and admissions process.
We'd like to extend an invitation to all our families to join us Thursday from 5:30 to 6:30, at
Parent Orientation. Teachers will be on hand to answer questions and share information about upcoming projects, expectations and activities in core classes, electives and advisory. While Parent Orientation is particularly useful for new families, we also encourage returning families to take advantage of this chance to connect with teachers and staff face-to-face. It's a great way to learn more about what's happening in your student's academic world!
The AHS
Fundraising Committee meets Tuesday morning, 10:30-11:30. New members are welcome to join this working group, which plans fundraising events and activities for the school. Please reach out to AHS Board Member Jennifer Thurston if you'd like to learn more; you can contact her at
jennifer.thurston@animashighschool.com.
Mark your calendars now--our first
Ospreys Dining Out
event of the year is scheduled for September 3. Dine at Grassburger anytime that day and they'll generously donate a portion of your check to our school!
Anyone have an underused Nintendo Wii System with the Just Dance game? Or a refrigerator? We could use them! Contact Bridget Stowers at (970)n 247-2474 or
mainoffice@animashighschool.com to arrange the details.
Finally, we're wishing our
AHS Mountain Biking Team good luck as they head up to the Chalk Creek Stampede in Nathrop this weekend, their first race of the season. The team is just one of many
student activities available to Ospreys presented at our first NEST Meeting and the Student Activity Fair this week. We hope all our students find extracurricular activities that fuel their passions and forge connections--there are plenty of great options!
Thanks for all you do to help the Ospreys soar!
