Sayaka Ganz: Reclaimed Creations
Now Open!
| |
Sayaka Kajita Ganz was born in Yokohama, Japan and grew up living in Japan, Brazil, and Hong Kong. She earned an MFA in 3D Studies with concentration in sculpture from Bowling Green State University and a BFA in Printmaking with a minor in Theater and Drama from Indiana University. Ganz utilizes reclaimed plastic objects like brush strokes which appear visibly unified at a distance though separate at close proximity. She describes her style as “3D impressionism.” Sculptures in this exhibition include recent work depicting animals in motion, which are rich in color and energy that create an illusion of form.

Congratulations to Louise Pfotenhauer on her retirement after 36 years with the Neville Public Museum! In her nearly four decades as Collections Manager, she has seen countless treasures, oddities, and heirlooms come through in hopes of making it into the Museum's permanent collection. While challenging to select a favorite, she recalls receiving rocks from the Scrays Hill quarry that feature an unidentified fossil as well as glaciation: "something like that really makes an imprint." Condensing her greatest accomplishments following a decorated career that included involvement with six national museum accreditations, overseeing and procuring the museum's collections, and the reimagining of the Generations Gallery, has been equally tough, though she cites the Generations Gallery renovation as a prideful standout. We are beyond grateful for the insight, dedication, and commitment to excellence Louise has brought to the Neville and everyone who has come through our doors. Everyone at Brown County thanks you for your spectacular public service and wishes you the very best in your well-deserved retirement, Louise! | |
