Over the years U.S. relations with Cuba have been fraught with conflict, misunderstanding, and by a lasting desire by citizens of both countries to normalize relations with peace and openness. Professor Littig will also talk about the differences between the two countries, as well as about the cultures which we share, and photos from a recent trip to Cuba.
Presented by David M. Littig, professor emeritus in political science, University of Wisconsin – Green Bay. David was born in Puerto Rico and was raised throughout Latin America, having lived in Puerto Rico, Cuba, Uruguay, Guatemala, Colombia, Panama, Brazil, as well as in New York City, Miami and Kalamazoo, Michigan. He received his B.A. from Indiana University, M.A. and Ph.D. from University of Wisconsin – Madison. He also studied at Harvard and University of Rio Grande do Sul, Porto Alegre, Brazil. In addition to university teaching for over 30 years, he has worked and traveled widely throughout Latin America, Europe, and China.
