This article from Erin Wildermuth discusses the importance of finding a supportive spouse. She writes, "Though not a necessary prerequisite to success, a supportive, positive partnership brightens the path and smooths the road." Couples that support each other are more likely to take on more challenges and as a result, have more victories. Her article points to a study that had couples encourage each other to do some public speaking. The study showed that the couples who were more encouraging and enthusiastic were more likely to follow through with the public speaking. The supportive couples also reported more personal growth, happiness and psychological well-being than the couples who were not supportive. Marriage may not guarantee happiness or success, but marrying someone who is supportive and nurturing certainly plays an important role.  From Abstinence Clearinghouse

Parents as Primary Educators
Parents, talking with your children about purity doesn't have to be scary. Even if you didn't make the best decisions in the past, you can still speak truth in the lives of your children. Consider the following tips from our book Abstinence 101 on talking with your children:
  1. Treat sex education as a process. Educating children about sexual integrity is not a one-time lesson, but an ongoing process.
  2. Be honest. Many young people are looking for honest answers about what to do on dates, interacting with the opposite sex and how premarital sex can affect their future.
  3. Be a loving guide, not "just a friend." Parents need to be a mature voice of wisdom in their children's lives.
