The conference provides undergraduate students with the opportunity to interact with representatives from each of the four option areas offered by the department.

Building a life of purpose - Penn State's Mezzacappa named 'New Face of Civil Engineering' 
Growing up in the construction industry, Steve Mezzacappa always loved getting his hands dirty. As a child, one of his greatest joys came from heading to a job site with his father and observing the building process.

Since then, Mezzacappa, a fourth-year architectural engineering student at Penn State, has used this passion for construction to drive and foster his desire to serve others.

"To me, service is when you are giving your time in an applicable hands-on setting. It's all about physically engaging yourself in something," he said.

This outlook has recently won Mezzacappa the honor of being named to "The New Face of Civil Engineering" by  DiscoverE, an organization that helps to unite, mobilize and support the engineering and technology communities.  FULL STORY>>
Penn State engineering students helping child overcome mobility challenges
In order to solve their daughter Lucy's mobility challenges due to spina bifida, architectural engineering alumni Adam and Monica Reed have partnered with The Learning Factory and senior engineering students during the spring 2016 semester to come up with a device that will meet Lucy's ever-changing needs.  FULL STORY>>

Abby Kreider: Life of a young professional in the State College community 
As a child, Abby Kreider excelled in math, science, and art. In high school, she continued her education as an art major, a distinction that allowed her to take art classes every day of her high school career. After touring Penn State and considering her options within the College of Engineering, she decided to attend and major in architectural engineering. She states that "architectural engineering is a good combination of scientific background and creative problem solving," a blend of her lifelong mathematic and artistic passions.  FULL STORY>>  
Teams win seven awards at AEI Student Design Competition
Two teams of architectural engineering students received top honors in four of the five categories at the AEI Student Design Competition in Worcester, Massachusetts.
Organized by the Architectural Engineering Institute (AEI) of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and hosted by Worcester Polytechnic Institute, the contest challenged students to consider and address the design, integration, and construction necessary for a 17-story, mixed-use office building located on Boylston Street in Boston, Massachusetts.   FULL STORY >>
