As we approach the season of giving, please take a few moments to consider how a very small gift can contribute to a fine Thanksgiving meal for those in need. The Sandoval County Treasurer's office is sponsoring its 4th annual Thanksgiving Food Drive through November 13, 2024. The attached flyer has all the details, and a list of items needed. Thank you to La Puerta Realty for serving as a drop-off location for non-perishable food items on the list. Please consider placing an extra food item in your shopping cart this week and next, then drop the items at La Puerta. Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving!
Looking for local events, arts, music, etc. to attend in November? The chamber maintains a listing of current local events on its website, and for our local newsletter subscribers, here is a brief list of some November events:
- Wild Hearts Gallery - Featured Artists Lisa Chernoff and Nancy & Jon Couch. "Broadcasting the Light: Fused and Stained-Glass Art" exhibit, October 29 - December 1, with a public artist reception November 9th, 1-3 p.m.

Placitas Community Library - Art exhibit opening on November 26th and running through January 2, 2025 - Native Visions: Celebrating Native American Heritage Month. This exhibit will feature New Mexico Native American artists, presenting their cultural work and its significant symbolism. On November 30th, there will be an Art Talk with three of the exhibiting artists, followed by a second art talk on December 14th with three Placitas exhibiting artists discussing the creative process and cultural significance of their work.
- At the Outpost Performance Center, Music by Rahim Al Haj, Django Festival Allstars, and Nduduzo Makhathini; a student art show, and even a Record/Book/CD sale. Check dates and details on their website.
- Placitas Seller's Holiday Market Saturday, November 2nd, 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. It's the first holiday market in Placitas this year, and the final Seller's Market of the season.

Placitas Artists Series - Olga Kern Gold Medalist Jonathan Mamora performs a solo piano recital on Novemberber 10th at 3 p.m.There is a pre-concert talk at 1:30 pm, followed by a visual arts exhibit at 2 pm. Concert tickets are available at the link above; no ticket is needed to view the art exhibit and artist reception.
- 4th Annual Placitas Holiday Market takes place on November 23 & 24. This is the largest holiday market in Placitas, with multiple locations. Check their website for locations and times.
- Sorry that we missed posting the new craft beer tasting event at The Merc. Check their FB page for listings of their specials, sales, and events!
